Necessary replacement for your old printer. Keep it going a bit longer....
Older laser printers wear out. It's a fact of life. I'm fairly suprised that my Brother Intellifax 4100 survived this long. I use it as a copier and printer, and I was given it used over 5 years ago. This drum unit breathes new life into my printer, since it was stuck on the "replace drum soon" warning message. I started with 3 extra toner cartridges when I got the printer, and I'm just now on my last toner. When this cartridge runs out (won't be for a while, just opened it) I'm planning on buying a color laser printer. Samsung has some cheap ones that are great for home use, and you don't have to mess with running inkjet prints in the rain. But, in the mean time, this review is for a replacement drum kit for most older brother laser ... Older laser printers wear out. It's a fact of life. It's pretty simple to use, just add your toner cartridge, then slide it in the slot on your printer. Easy setup. My particular purchase was for a remanufactured/refurbished unit, which is not in perfect shape, but it was also 1/4th the cost of a 'new' unit, so no complaints. This will keep my current printer running a few more years, which is all it's really designed to do. If you have an older brother laser (something) that uses this drum unit, weigh the cost of the toner cartridges and the cost of this versus a new printer. What's the old addage? A printer in the hand is worth 2 on ebay? Replace your drum unit and keep your old printer going. These brother machines were built well and will last if taken care of properly. So, make the choice, new printer, or keep going with the old one? I chose to keep going with the old one for now. It's working great for me. Down the road, maybe I'll buy a new printer. Or, by then, maybe I'll just buy another toner cartridge and/or drum unit and keep this workhorse running. Who knows?

Worst than the drum I had
needed a new cartridge because it was leaving marks on the copies - I thought this was a NEW drum and obviously it was not - I believe, I got screwed
