About this product

Product Information

The world's first interchangeable 3D lens Lumix G 12.5mm/F12 (H-FT012) realizes 3D shooting. It features two optical systems installed within the diameter of the lens mount, creating stereo images from the left and right lenses, to be processed with a 3D image processing system. Despite its unique performance, the 3D lens keeps its size extremely compact thanks to Panasonic's advanced optical technologies and consideration of image processing system as well as structural design.Shooting 3D content with an interchangeable lens system camera was possible by using panorama systems or a combination of two lenses and two CCDs, but these systems have drawbacks including the need for a dedicated 3D camera and the difficulties capturing moving objects. However, this compact 3D-capable interchangeable lens allows easier handling and instant 3D shooting with cameras without a special structure for 3D shooting. It produces 3D images without distortion or time lag between left and right images, even for moving objects. The 3D images, even close-up shots, taken with this lens are easy on the eyes when viewed on 3D VIERA televisions.

    Good for modefication

After some modifications to the lens i use this to shoot close up subjects in 3D. Some work is then required in software to adjust the images for viewing. Out of the box the 3D effect is minimal and the results can only be viewed on 3D televisions which are no longer available.

  • Top critical review

    3d objective experience

It indeed makes 3D pictures, so it does what it promises. Unfortunately (stated in it's manual) doesn't allow recording of 3D videos on the same camera for some limitations set by Panasonic/Lumix. Apparently there are hacks to go around this obstacle by covering some of the contacts over the objective backside and then with 3rd party software cutting, editing, converting the recording into a 3d compatible file, but it's far away from next-next finish experience.

  • Cool gadget but...

this is a really cool gadget to show photos to friends and family on a 3d TV. But unfortunately, the circumstances of the photo have to be perfect. i.e. Light has to be more than 5 Lux, the subject has to be stationary, photographer must have a steady hand and the planets have to allign. LOL It`s understandable why this technology didn`t become popular with half measured accesories like this.

  • Great value for the money..!

I like to use this 3d lens for 3d picture. Good Construction and quality lens. 3d picture from lumix is sharp and good more than 3D Loreo lens. I can't not use VDO mode with 3D but I can use take 3d video by manual mode. I have 3d loreo lens and 3D lumix lens. I like quality picture from 3D lumix. 3D lumix lens very sharpness more than 3D loreo.

  • Nice for the price...

Lots of fun, takes some getting used to its limitations. Unfortunately it doesn’t work for movies.
