About this product

Product Information

It is rare that a family film is both visually sophisticated and emotionally nuanced. MILLIONS, the fantastical tale of two British brothers and the large sack of cash literally dropped onto them from the sky, is just that--a multi-layered, majestic feast for both the eyes and the mind. Young brothers Anthony and Damian Cunninham, whose initial response to their unexpected fortune is a Robin Hood-esque spree of charity, have only one week to spend their 265,000 British pounds before their nation switches over to the Euro. Though the premise may seem trite or predictable, unexpected details--including Damian's ability to see visions of saints and the recent death of the boys' beloved mother--add complexity to the story. As the 7- and 9-year-old Cunningham brothers, lead actors Alex Etel and Lewis McGibbon prove to be those exceptional child actors who are appealing without being precious and their understated, mature performances add gravity to a largely whimsical film.Danny Boyle, the director best known for stylishly violent films TRAINSPOTTING and 28 DAYS LATER, might seem an odd man to helm this comparatively innocent movie. However, Boyle's visual and narrative gifts turn out to be perfectly suited to this modern day fable, adding much-needed flavor to a genre that is all too often ignored by cinematic talents.

    delightfully charming

A wonderful film about two brothers - very opposite, but each completely believable - the younger of the two is one of the sweetest young actors ever.......and he visits with saints. The story line turns every now and then, and one thinks oh no - but each time the result is to the good. I love this movie and watch it again and again. A must see!

  • Millions - Danny Boyle

This is one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen! I usually don't watch alot of family oriented movies, but because I am a Danny Boyle fan and loved "28 Days Later" so much, I decided to give it a shot. There's just something about this movie that is breathtaking. I could tell immediately it would be an all time favorite of mine. It is heartwarming in every aspect and truly shows the goodness that lies in us all, maybe just a little deeper in some of us than others. All the actors in this movie are wonderful, but the two main boys, the brothers, absolutely shine! I cried at the end of the movie, (and still cry every time I watch it!) but they aren't sad tears, they come from a place in my heart that few movies have ever reached in beauty or depth. Truly inspirational!

  • An amazing film of miracles, millions, and the love of life

This is a superb film for one and all. A small boy who is able to see Saints, suddenly has 3 days to distribute millions of dollars (lbs) before the robbers and the government track him down. A celebration of life and family. Do not think this is just some silly holiday film...it is a righteous piece of work and you will be glad you watched it.

  • A heart warming adventure to share with your kids

I bought this movie and watched it with my 7 year old for our "date night." This is a great movie with lots of suspense and real life character tests. It's about a 7 year old boy who finds a load of cash mishandled by a robber. The boy believes it's a gift from above and decides he should do acts of kindness to poor people, giving them handfuls of the money. As the 7 year old shares his fortune, unknownst to his parents, he tells his older brother what happened. His older brother has all kinds of selfish things he'd like to do with the money, none of which include turning in the money. The robber tracks the 7 year old down and wants his money back, well, let's just say...there's help from "above" and the boys have a great story to tell their children some day.

  • To be Watched by All Ages (more than once!)

One of the best films I have seen in a long time, so good I am in the process of watching it a second time since I got it two months ago! Even with two child actors it should not be pigeon holed into the "kid movie" category! This movie appeals to all ages; my little brother, myself and partner, and even my father-in-law enjoyed it! Catholic religious imagery plays into the film a lot, but not enough to call this a religious film. The imagery and religion of the family merely gives us a reference point for their view of where morality starts. This film has humor and mystery, and is very very touching. I laughed, giggled, and teared up! This is one of the good ones!
