Written in the mid-1930's, this book is regarded by some to be one of Agatha Christie's 10 best mysteries. The reasons are many. Hercule Poirot is faced with a very challenging series of murders. Captain Hastings' narrative is riveting. There is an obvious suspect from the beginning; but, he seems to foil the efforts of Poirot and the police to apprehend him. And, there are more than enough other characters involved to keep the reader wondering. I agree that this is one of Christie's best. And, the book itself, bound in black leatherette with gold imprinted padded cover, is a beautiful book to have in one's bookcase.
