I have taken colour photos with this camera using a 50mm Nikkor f/1.8 lens and the results are simply mind blowing. Thirty six perfectly exposed photos, even in low light conditions. It’s almost like a modern DSLR using film. It’s going for practically next to nothing on eBay now and if you are thinking of returning to film photography. Don’t just take my word for it. Have a look at the attached results from Kodak Gold 200 film.

Really rather a decent camera, given that it was never a top-of-the range model. Not as plasticy as it could have been, and handles pretty well. The LCD display is clear, and the readings displayed on the viewfinder are brighter and easier to read than some similar cameras. Image quaility seems pretty good to me. I used Ilford HP5 plus film, and developed it myself. The camera let me squeeze 37 shots out of a 36 exposure film, which is nice, and they all came out well exposed and with excellent contrast, even when using a cheap 28 to 80mm kit lens. Also seems very quiet in operation, for an SLR. I did wonder if the mirror and shutter were working, but I needn't have worried. The one slight negative is that the viewfinder, although clear, is a little small, and seems to mist up very easily, but the January weather probably didn't help.Read full review

Great camera for everybody who wants to learn film photography. Easy to understand and good quality. Precise shutter, no light leaks, lightweight. You can use it as "point'n'shoot" but what's the point of it? Take, learn, make great photos (find your lens). Electronic film winder, autofocus, depth-of-field preview, screen on the top for all info you need. The only little minus for myself is lack of screen illumination. But you can use your phone anyway because you'll download a light meter software, or guess. For point'n'shoot take anything else with no switches and strange knobs.

Always wanted a Nikon Camera back in the day. Now I have one, excellent camera hi specification rugged and reliable. And First class service.

The item had been well cared for previously and so the photographs it were produced were of the anticipated quality. The only problem now is the cost of the 35mm fil to go in the camera but the camera itself makes really good use of the "pricey film" available.

Hi. Being retired and 78 and having spent all my working life in electronic or optical jobs and wantinng to keep my fingers and mind occupied I started repairing and adjusting old lenses and cameras - starting with my own and my father's old collections of cameras. In recent years I have moved onto my old stable of Minolta bodies and lenses and having 'gone digital' first with Nikon D70, D50 and D90 picked up a couple of Nikon lenses at car-boots which needed cleaning/lubrication etc. and I needed a NIKON 35mm body to try them on. I already had a F-801 body which is a bit 'clunky' so wanted something a bit more up to date and this F65 fits the bill exactly. A few weeks ago the AF-S 18-55mm zoom on my D50 suffered the dreaded bayonet-mount fracture and I successfully fitted a new Bayonet-Mount Unit from NIKON and during the repair used the F65 as a test bed to avoid disturbing the settings of either of my DSLR should the repair have been faulty. Happily the repair was a complete success and the lens now performs perfectly on my D50. Incidentally, contrary to general advice a 'digital' lens such as this CAN be used successfully on a 35mm body. Fitted to my F65 body the 18-55 performed very well giving only a small amount of vignetting at the 18mm setting but which cleared at approximately 22mm on test shots using a short length of FP4 monochrome film and photographing white and light-grey test boards and some sea&sky shots. In any case, when printing/enlarging one rarely uses a frame right out to the corners! Overall I am highly delighted with my purchase and the use to which I am putting it.Read full review
This camera was for my grandsons college work . I have replied yes to all because he was very pleased with it but as yet has not developed any film although taken lots of photos. I am hoping the images will be good and it is reliable! The condition of it seemed very good.
