I bought this camera to transfer hi8 cassettes to dvd. Roxio's software wouldn't let me us DVD's so I used flash drives. Problem was there wasn't a sound female plug on the Recorder so all tranfers are silent films. Not very popular with the family, as what was said was most important from 30 years ago.

This camera did not work. This device was purchased to playback some Hi-8 tapes I have had for a while. Neither tape I tried to play worked, so this was a waste of my money. Now I have a camera I can't use and don't need. Waste of money. Very disappointed, as I was really looking forward to watching this memories.

Positives: Great picture quality. Can shoot with no visible light. Lots of features, and filming modes including SP Effects. The Zoom really brings things up close. Very easy to use. Easy hookup to TV, VCR, or DVD Recorder. Good Battery Life. Negatives: A bit on the heavy side No light built in, but can still shoot in darkness. Has some minor focus problems in night shot mode. Does not have USB Streaming system which makes it difficult to hook UP to a PC. Overall this is a great camcorder. This would be really good for those looking for a first camcorder because it is very easy to use. It is a major improvement over the newer JVC Mini DV I used to have. If your looking for a good all around camcorder and your not concerned with easy PC editing, This camcorder is for YOU!!! If you want easy hookup to your PC, look for newer Hi8 Sony handyCam models that offer USB Streaming. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it an 8. Thanks, JayRead full review
Very nice camera, very easy to learn and use. All the features are cool, nightvision is sweet! It really fits well into your hand and has basically everything you need an analog camera to have. The camera is durable and I've experience no problems with the ones that I've bought, even the very used ones. Really a stable for the analog camera market. Highly recommended.
I had been holding some older 8mm tapes that I hadnt seen in years and thought that I should try and save them to DVDs but was somewhat concerned that it might be too complicated ...I perchased this SONY - TVR108 CAMCORDER off of ebay and it was so simple to do ....The camera is very user friendly and has great features...I would reccomend that anyone wanting to do this to pick up any of the Sony cameras like this and relive some of the past on new DVDS ...
