It has good sound, easy to break casing for the cost and it could be a little louder but it's alright just to work and jam your favorite beats.

The JBL Mini Boom Speaker is a great purchase. This device allows you to listen to your favorite music lists from your Smart Phone, Ipod, your Laptop and Desktop computer, or your MP3 players' custom play list, and it's portable... Take it with you to the park, work, or on the back porch. The only draw-backs is the voice delay when using telephone mode. Yes that's right... You can answer your phone and speak to your caller through this device with its' own built in microphone. This device charges completely within 3 hours and gives up to 5 hours of continuous play time on one charge or endless play time when plugged in. Perhaps all it needs now is a Webcam. I love love love this speaker! It delivers sound that is pure, crisp, balanced and distortion free even at high volume playback. The first music I streamed thru it was a pop / operatic album, 'Barcelona' by Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballé ... If you know anything about opera you understand the intricate vocal inflections & tones and this little speaker delivered both with extraordinary quality, without compromising the fullness of the orchestra accompaniment. Pop and Rock are delivered with fullness like we used to expect from the huge tower speakers of the 1980's. It is difficult to gauge the size of the unit from the photos online, & when I opened the package I was initially disappointed at it's diminutive size -- but that fear was quickly diminished during the first song. The size has actually proved to be quite an asset - if you are moving around the house (such as cleaning, etc), you can simply grab it with one hand and set it down in the next room. It is very straightforward to operate -- I paired it to my iPhone without even having to open the manual. The speaker has a volume switch, however the volume can also be controlled from the volume buttons on the phone, as well as the volume slide on the 'now playing' music screen. So it can be adjusted from across the room. The speaker comes with a rechargeable battery that has a 5 hour playback. It also comes with a charging cable and plug, both of which are substantially constructed and not so lightweight that you would fear overheating. To protect the speaker when not in use, it has a neoprene, zippered case.

I can use it while it's charging but not off it
While it's charging it works fine, but when I unplugged it it wouldn't turn on which leads me to believe that the battery has to be replaced because it doesn't hold charge.

Best speaker for the money.
I bought this speaker after much research and I wasn't disappointed. The sound that comes out of this product is amazing. Even at top volume there is minimal distortion. Also, the battery life is not bad. Overall, if you are looking for a speaker that will give you good, clear sound, you could do a whole lot worse than the JBL Flip.
