I have 3 of these now and love them. They DO work with the Nova type 1 jaws, so there are other jaws that the 2" ones that come with the chuck. Sure, using the tommy bars to tighten/loosen the jaws isn't as great as using a key, but for the cost savings, it's a no brainer.

i'm sure it's great , but for some reason my lathe spindle is 6 tpi instead of normal 8tpi. would send it back but its weight would cost a fortune. so i'll just put it in the pile of things that didn't work on my stupid lathe. i have found out that if it didn't come with this particular lathe(circa 70's) nothing's gonna fit. was my father's so can't kick.

It is surly not the best wood lathe chuck, however you get what you pay for. The centricity of it the only thing I find lacking. When you install the metal center into the metal chuck and tighten the chuck jaws some times the point on the center is centered and sometimes not. Loosen the chuck, turn the insert and it will be centered. I took a precision center form my metal lathe and the Wen chuck did the same thing. It is good enough for the work I do.

HAVING 2 WRENCHES CAN GET CLUMSY, BUT FOR THE PRICE A GOOD BUY. THE MACHINED SURFACES COULD BE TIGHTER, BUT IT IS WORKING.
