This was just right for my Boss Chorus pedal. Fit exactly into the hole. Only issue was the little tabs are probably designed for a circuit board and my pedal had wires attached, and since the tabs don't have holes in them it is not easy to solder and get a good connection. But it did work.

First pedal I ever bought in 1986. Sold that one to a friend in the early 90s and he still has it and uses it regularly. I'm glad he has it because if I had sold it to a stranger I would kick myself. I bought two on eBay but the first one is mod'd and I honestly don't like it. (Still usable) I've been running a stereo guitar rig since 1987 (thanks to the ce3) and professionally since 1994. In the beginning it was partly because I had two small amps instead of one big one. (Necessity) now just try to get me to show up to a gig with only one amp. I would say use it only with one amp (that's where it sounds sterile and tinny) but please keep using it mono I like being the only one with incredible tone haha. Ps. Another quick tip. You're welcome. When running two amps turn down the distortion.Read full review

This BOSS effects pedal is what I've come to expect; stoutly built, flexible tone, and simple use! This is a nice addition to my pedal board as I now have almost all of the basics covered; distortion, chorus, flange and phase (no delay yet, that one will be acquired soon!).

I bought this as a means to spice up my overall sound. I often don't play through an amp and my pedal board goes straight to the system board (which can sound a bit sterile) So I use this pedal in stereo to add a bit of depth to the guitar sound. There are 2 modes...I don't know exactly what they are but 1 sounds spacially wide and the other sounds thick. Can get mellow or messed up. I generally like it much better in stereo but you can still get some good sounds either way. You can make it sound intense or dial it to sound like your playing from on old cassette tape. I usually go for a more subtle effect.
Vintage Boss pedals are great sounding effects. I just added this one to my huge collection of pedals. I have the older CE 2 and the newer CE 5... Everything's great about theses pedals. Love the sound.

First chorus I've ever owned and I love it. It's warm and aggressive when combined with proper distorsion. Stereo effect is not as good as I expected, but I mostly use it in mono mode, so it's OK anyway. Not as amazing as CE-2 but it can get really close to it for a part of the CE-2 price. Despite the fact they are not produced anymore, you can feel the "tank proof" builing of any Boss pedal, which is extraordinary durable and resistant.
Well built / great sounding old school pedal. Stereo adaption of the fab classic ce-2. For the price I paid, highly recommended π.

I had a CE-3 a number of years ago and loved it. For some reason, this is the chorus pedal that just sounds "right" to my ears. The CE-3 isn't for everyone-- The CE-2 remains the most popular Boss compact chorus, and many reviews criticize the CE-3 for sounding "harsh," "digital," or even "sterile." A factor in this reputation may be that the CE-3 is wired for Boss' ACA adapter. Such pedals tend to be happier on 12 volts instead of the usual 9 volts. I've personally found it sounds sweeter and deeper with 12, and better with a 12v adapter instead of a battery. It does tend to sound a little thinner and add a little more treble on 9v, so this may also be another contributing factor in its checkered reputation. To me, the CE-3 adds a bit of high-end to the tone regardless of voltage. Perhaps this is where the above-mentioned reputation comes from, but I've always found this to be more of a sparkle or shimmer than harshness or sterility. I associate this sparkle with countless recordings from the 1980's-- particularly with the music made by New Order, the Cure, and other "big unknown bands" from the period. It also does a good Hair Metal chorus sound. Some find this tone cheesy or dated. To me it's more of a definitive chorus tone from a time when the effect was omnipresent. Even if it was abused during the decade of decadence, the sound is more eponymous than anachronistic to my ears. The actual unit does have its limitations. It won't get particularly fast, thus limiting its Leslie-sim capabilities, and its depth doesn't quite reach into seasick "Nirvana" territory. If you're looking for these, look elsewhere. For a smooth, shimmering chorus that's as die-hard as any Boss product (the near-mint Green Label I recently scored here on eBay is at least 25 years old and functions perfectly; the first CE-3 I had in the 1990's was at least 10 years old when I got it and beat to heck but never let me down) the CE-3 is a deal that's tough to pass up. I've tried many chorus pedals, from the budget to the boutique, from classic to ultramodern with all of the bells and whistles, but I always come back to this sound. It is swirling, shimmering, thick, rich, modulated perfection.Read full review
I've gone through a few different choruses over the past few years. Finally stopped on the Small Clone for about 3 years but I just never agreed with it. I have so much Boss stuff that I really felt like that's the way I should go. I went to Guitar Center and tried out the CE5 but wasn't sold on it. I started researching and thought I'd get a CE2 or CE3. I bought the CE3 on ebay and went to make room for it on my board. I remembered I had some unmarked Boss pedal stuffed back away so I pulled it out to stick in the place for the new pedal. Before I had it donated to me, it had been painted. When I stepped on it, I heard a chorus effect. It was the CE2. Well the CE3 shows up so I got to side by side these two pedals. For me the CE2 was a bit better, maybe for somebody else, they would vote CE3. I just thought it was a richer sound. Personally I thought they both were a big improvement over the Small Clone. The CE3 is available for stereo which would be nice if I was running two amps but I just run one Valve King or one Guild (for recording only) or one Fender or one Marshall (least favorite amp).Read full review
