    Digitally tuned and very good value receiver on FM at £12, but MW/LW you'd be better off with a second hand bargain on Ebay. Obviously designed for TMS (silly BBC have ended that on LW!) for which it works acceptably on R4. We needed a few cheap receivers for a testing an Innovation/Trial of a new small station (if we can get permission) in 2025. We need to tune from 225-261 kHz. A Roberts Play at a few quid more is a much better buy for this project I think.

    Lloytron Sports Radio

    Bought this to replace my Roberts Sports Radio 925 which had finally given up the ghost. As these radios don't appear to be available any more this appeared to be the perfect replacement. And it's a great little radio, maybe not quite the build quality of the Roberts but a snip at the price. I wanted it, particularly, to have the LW facility for the cricket and it does along with FM & MW. The sports channels are highlighted with colour dots for Radio 5 Live, Test Match Special and Talk Sport for ease of tuning. Can't fault it, brilliant in the garden & lightweight enough to use on a walk using the headphones that come with it. Radio Caroline is now on 648Khz so when there isn't any football or cricket, there's your perfect music listening station!

    Good for the money and includes long wave reception.

    Well, for the money and its good looks it is certainly ground breaking but it does suffer from lack of maximum volume potential, additionally, after a few moments use the volume control seized up but taking it apart and giving the volume control a squirt of 3 in 1 oil fixed this.

    A small and easy to use radio, first time out in the garden tuned to the blue dot light wave and as it said on the front CRICKET. great radio also classic radio and pop (not for me) and news what more do you want .

    Brilliant for TMS

    I imagine that a big part of the market for a long wave radio would be TMS listeners, that is certainly why I bought it. The manufacturer has responded to the market by marking the TMS position on the waveband along with Radio 5 Live and Talk Sport. In summary this radio is specifically aimed at the sport listening market. It is easy to tune to any of the three channels. Of course it can also be tuned to any other wavebands. The sound quality is good for a small speaker. The earphones work fine if you want to keep the noise to a minimum. I bought this for a specific reason i.e. to listen to the cricket when I am fishing, for this purpose it is perfect.
