        Best stomp box compressor I've ever used

        I have played guitar pro and semi pro for over 30 years, mostly in clubs, bars, fairs. I find compression to be an essential effect for my rig, and is usually an "always on" pedal. I ran an older 4 knob Carl Martin unit for years and years (excellent) but it's need for it's own power supply and large footprint had me looking around. Tried a newer Carl Martin, a 4 knob Keeley, Xotic and Wampler as well before purchase, and found all these units were all really great sounding pedals as well. It is amazing what quality you can get for under $200 now and I would have been happy with any one of those as well I think. I ultimately chose the TC for the both the amazing sounds right out of the box...AND it's ability to create my own sounds via the free tone print software, store them and flash ...

        not my cup of tea..

        This is not a bad pedal per say...while it does it's job as a compressor and has some nice features such as the 3 position switch for different compressor types...I found this pedal altered my sound a little more than I cared for...also there is an issue with the volume knob...when you turn it it doesn't seem to change at first....didn't like that...I can see using this pedal for other things than just a guitar pedal...recording for instance...the idea of programming this pedal to whatever parameters you desire is a cool feature although I didn't use it .....my suggestion to guitar players is buy more of a straight forward compressor..personally I use the Wampler Ego compressor...it does exactly what I want and is very transparent and musical....once again I didn't hate this pedal..just ...

        Nice pedal at an affordable price.

        This is a great pedal. I use a compressor to run in the background and provide a little sustain for my lead sound and also to give a more rounded tone to my clean sounds. This pedal does that easily, but also offers a lot more. The Toneprint feature is excellent, as it gives easy access to tones which can then be modified to suit your needs - the multiband frequency is great as well as it allows you to focus your compression one the frequencies you think need it most. It also has a classic compressor option which allows you to dial in tones made popular in the 60s and 70s. I like the spectra option most as I think it sounds the smoothest. Overall, this pedal offers a tremendous amount of versatility and is a welcome addition to my pedalboard.

        Is anything from TC Electronic bad? It is all revolutionary and top of the line!

        TC Electronic has done it again revolutionizing another effect and releasing a stompbox that lines up in the price range with it's competitors as an average box but it is indeed far superior to the most expensive of it's effect's kind. TC Electronic is the best company in the world when it comes to designing and building guitar gear!

        TCElectronic HyperGravity Compressor

        I tried several different compressors before settling on this one. The unit has a blend control which sets the ratio of compressed signal to non-compressed signal allowing one to set up the amount of compression from the unit. Very useful feature. The unit offers a wide variation in output from a simple boost to a full on "squeeze". I was able to find a sretting where the compression works in a very transparent fashion. Highly recommended.
