Product Information

In 1947, Dalton Trumbo (Bryan Cranston) was Hollywood's top screenwriter until he and other artists were jailed and blacklisted for their political beliefs. TRUMBO (directed by Jay Roach) recounts how Dalton used words and wit to win two Academy Awards and expose the absurdity and injustice under the blacklist, which entangled everyone from gossip columnist Hedda Hopper (Helen Mirren) to John Wayne, Kirk Douglas and Otto Preminger.

  • The truth about Hollywood from the 1930's to 1975 accusations pointed at screen writers by Richard Nixon & his cronnies

A riveting movie telling this true story how a group of 10 screen writers in Hollywood that were persecuted by the Government of Richard Nixon and his cronies and being charged as self confessed Communists, getting them to be reduced to cheating the system to live, they were eventually sent to jail, some committed suicide eventually they win out by writing movie scripts under a fake name only to win the Academy Award on 2 occasions and finally they won the their rights to start work again under their own names, a very interesting movie, a must see

  • Riveting and cruel

"The McCarthy Era" of anti-Communist activities ruined lives and even caused suicides n the USA for about 10 years. Some served jail terms and had families collapse. Trumbo who wrote such scripts as Roman Holiday, Spartacus, Exodus, to name a few, and his colleagues who were black listed. Began living double lives, they were forced to exist by not laying claim to the manuscripts they created. This is the riveting story behind the scenes.
