The 5001B-1 and the older version 001B, are well built light stands that fold to an easy to pack size. If using umbrellas, or light boxes, be prepared to hang a weight from one of the lower knobs. There are various water bags or empty bags that can be easily filled on site to avoid travel weight.
Manfrotto provides an illustrated spare parts list on its website -even for three models back from the current selling version. They carry spare parts in inventory. I recently purchased a spare part for the oldest version of this light stand when the part was missing from a used stand I bought.
I have a variety of larger, sturdier light stands I use when shooting group photos, high ceilings are available, or using my largest light modifiers. These smaller Manfrotto’s are great when minimizing what I need to carry and doing smaller shoots. With weights, they can handle a 60” umbrella, but I stay under 40” to be more solid and stable.
Currently very handy for continuous lighting with 30” umbrellas shooting on-site training videos.
