I bought this scent for my girlfriend after sampling it in a high-end department store. She is olive-skinned and Asian. This scent enhances and her natural skin scent and it blends with her personality very well. She smells like she looks... absolutely gorgeous. I just love it because it makes her even more beautiful.

It didn't meet my expectations, first because it doesn't have a beautiful fragrance to it, second, it was in a regular box, not the real black box. I was surprised to see the latter. This also stopped me from giving it to a sister or a friend who might like it. There should be a description of the item inside and out.

As any YSL perfume is, this one is memorable. I smelled a sample and it did have a light coffee note, so I sought out the new fragrance. I've worn the original Opium in colder weather only since its debut in the 80's. Love it. Well, I do like this new perfume but - only in cold weather, just one tiny spray, more then that and it's overwhelming, leaving a trail which I personally think is tacky. In fact, I wish it came in a non-spray version as one little dab is all you need. This is a much heavier scent then the original. Would I buy it again? No.

Always got compliments on original opium, but the new black opium draws even more compliments & I really enjoy the scent. It's a refreshing change to the original. Now I will use both mixing them up now & then.
