I like watches. I have managed to keep a vintage Movado Astronic with the Zenith El Primero caliber running for decades (I know a watchmaker guy in Oregon). But I've never had the kind of funding needed to build a collection of timepieces with the features I've always wanted. Two of those were 1) perpetual calendar and 2) minute repeater. This watch has them both for around US$300. The caliber with minute repeater feature is quartz of course, instead of a mechanical version (which generally can't be had for less than $150k). The timbre and amplitude of the chime sounds are quiet and very realistic. It seems to be currently in production (as of late 2016). The caliber was available for a time in an Invicta case, but that seems to have been discontinued. Citizen upgraded their 9000 minute repeater with the Campanola line which seems readily available, but at a much higher price. The Accurist caliber is made in Japan, so you may be assured of high tolerance workmanship (especially time keeping and indexing, i.e., the hands line up exactly on what they indicate). I've had it for about a month now and it has handily kept time with my mobile phone. People notice it; it starts conversations. I'm now saving my pennies for the Accurist GMT 122—which promises to be another outstanding value.Read full review

Wonderful watch for the price. The same movement in a Citizens Campanola is a minimum of 15 to 20 times more. If you want a Minute Repeater/Perpetual Calendar watch that looks good at a more than reasonable price, this is the one...
