I have been using Max Factor pancake make up since I was in my late teens, my mother used it. It is a light weight wet to dry foundation, not recommended for real dry skin, you can use a primer and it goes on much better. Since Max factor has gone out of business this make up is NO Where to be found and unless you have money to burn or want to put that much money into foundation I would suggest you look for another type, although, it does last a long time, if I could find something comparable I'd switch. This used to sell for $7-8.00.. in drug stores... ridiculous that the smart ppl who stocked up on it are making a KILLING on ppl like me. But this will be the last time I spend $40+ for foundation! I'll use it for special occasions so it will last even longer. The 4 stars only is bc of the price.Read full review
Like many, I have used the Max Factor pancake foundation for 30 years. I LOVE IT! And like many I am extremely disappointed that it is now so difficult to get and very expensive at that. It takes a little practice to apply but nothing compares to the finished effect. I use the natural #2 and the Tan #2 and apply them together. I use the Natural shade on the lower half of my face (along the jaw and up to under the cheekbones) and the tan shade over the nose and out to cover the cheekbones blending the darker shade into the lighter. I finish with the natural under my eyes and on my forehead. This method takes the place of applying a bronzer to give the sun kissed look. I have uneven pigment so I need extra coverage. In the past I used the pancake in combination with Max Factor erase but now I use dermablend cover creme first as a "primer" and apply the pancake over it. I find the pancake foundation is much better as a setting agent for the dermablend cover creme versus the setting powder. The finish is soft matte, it lasts all day and it doesn't wipe off easily if you touch your face. Please bring Max Factor back to the US!Read full review
I am thrilled when I can still find the old formula of this makeup. I was very sad when they discontinued making it in the USA. Wish I had bought more before it became unavailable. It just can not be beat for coverage and ease of use and working with all skin types. I do ok even at this price, because a little goes along way, so I do not use up the Max Factor as quickly as other foundations. Since it works better than other foundations, it is totally worth it!!!

Max Factor is no longer based in the United States. The Company is now in the UK. Max Factor Pancake is still made in some shades. I love the Max Factor Pancake I have used it since I was 16 . . . . and I still use it at 62. It is the only Foundation I can use. I have tried every Foundation out there and can not use them too many chemicals in them. I love that the Max Factor Pancake is water based, and has a very nice matte finish. I love the Cream Beige #113, the shade is exact for me. It is hard to find. I apply the foundation with a slightly damp silk sea sponge which gives a smooth flawless matte finish application. In my opinion Max Factor Pancake Foundation is the best ever made. I wish that the Max Factor Co. would come back to the United States. Sometimes if my complexion is a little dry . . . I apply a lite application of Pure Argan Oil as a moisturizer before applying the Max Factor Pancake Foundation and the foundation goes on smoothly.Read full review
Very good product, but because Max Factor discontinued it, the cost has been outrageously expensive. My 87 year old mother with skin cancer swears by it, but it costs so much these days! Oh well, gotta pay through the nose for a tried and true product I guess.....
