This is one of the latest motherboards to come out with SATA and USB 3.0, this is a feature you will love for the speed. Two things I didn't like about this boards layout, first is the way the PCI express x16 slots are laid out. If your running a double slot card like the NVIDIA GTS 250 series graphic cards, you cover the PCI Express x1 and the PCI slots.....so you will need to use single slot cards. I'm not a great fan of MATX (micro ATX) boards. If I had to purchase one this would be it, fast and built tough. If you're limited by space, this is the model systemboard to get, if you can go full ATX....I would go with the full ATX.
Board has everything you need in a mid/high level system. Support for AM3 6 core with the 1.4 BIOS update. MSI's drivers are top notch and recently updated. I installed Windows 7 x64 without a problem and it runs great. I have this board running a Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition and it screams. Overclocking is easy with the MSI software and the new BIOS update allows the unlocking of hidden/disabled cores. One minor flaw is the positioning of the SATA connectors. 4 are at 90 degree angles so if your case is tight, connecting could be a hassle. On is pointing straight out perpendicular to the board and long video cards are apt to block it outright. The onboard video isn't all that great. If you build a reasonably quick system, your Windows Experience Index (if you use it as a gauge)will be held back without a dedicated PCI-e card. The board is ATI Hybrid Crossfire ready, so you can get a real boost in video by using an applicable ATI Radeon graphics card to combine the onboard video with the card's video. Overall, a very capable board with lots of overclocking ability and 6 core support make it a great board for the price. But use of a video card is recommended as the onboard video leaves a bit to be desired.Read full review
A very good quality motherboard that seems to be built more for the long haul than for speed. I coupled this mobo with an AMD 1090t and a Corsair H60 for cooling because of the mid-tower case size. While I was unable to get it to overclock much past 3.5 Ghz it did seem to run fairly cool. Even after introducing another fan to create a push/pull method cooling strategy on the H60, it didn't seem to matter much about the temperature so much as the restrictions of the mobo not allowing it to go faster. Even tweaking the voltage slightly produced no higher speed gains. While it (IMO) isn't going to give you that blazing fast gaming machine you might be hoping for it is a good design for a motherboard. I was however VERY disappointed that it only came with one (yes one) fan input besides the CPU fan input. To me this is completely unnacceptable for a board that is able to run an AMD x6 processor and at the very least a high output AMD Quad Core processor. Having to split 1-3 fans off a single fan output is somewhat acceptable but not ideal in my book. Because of that and the inability to overclock as much as the box implies you should be able to I have to in all honesty at best call this an average board. I think though for the duration it will probably perform well enough for an average computer user but for an enthusiast it is a fail in many ways. It's not as though it's a cheap board either since most are still commanding a $100 plus price tage so I would expect at least a few more fan inputs on the board if nothing else. I will recommend it if you want an average to good computer but if you're looking for a serious build I would have to go with Asus who IMO produce a much better product which you will pay for but I think your actually getting your money's worth from.Read full review
After a ton of research, I bought this to replace a fried mobo in my HP Envy H8 PC. It's running an AMD 6-core FX-6120, 16GB DDR3-1600 RAM, Windows 8.1 Pro, and the graphics card is a Powercolor ATI HD 7790. The on-board audio drives my Superlux HD 668B headphones beautifully. I plan to get the Logitech Z506 surround 5.1 speaker system in the future and have no doubts of a great experience. As you would expect the graphics are just great and the 16 gigs of RAM serve up with super speeds. This mobo offers the option of going to 32GB of RAM if I need or choose to. Please note I cannot comment on the ATI 4290 on-board graphics as I've always had a graphics card, the previous card I was using was a AMD HD 7450 before getting the upgrade to the now HD 7790. Both worked well on this mobo without any issues. I like the idea that I can add another graphics card and use the CrossFireX to up my system. Also, my Logitech C920 webcam works great, and to note I had also a Logitech C615 working also on this system as well, both without issues. I have a HP Envy 5530 (5500 series) all in one printer working off this and no problems encountered. To summarize, I'm happy with my purchase and expect to be into the future, as I can continue upgrading this system due to the many options still left to me on this motherboard.Read full review
This was a replacement board for the one I had which was the same model. It works very well for my applications.
