Good OEM product
Product came looking just as pictured and in good shape. It was slightly different than the original which was more flat on the end where this one is slightly more domed and the original had black print on it instead of blue, but this is the correct filter for my Hydro Gear 218-3010L transaxle per Hydro Gear. I assume they updated the filter over the years since I had never changed mine before. Had to change it because my transaxle quit working because the coupler on the brake shaft had come loose on the shaft and was stripped out requiring the transaxle to be opened up to replace it which when much better than expected. I was surprised that the oil, though dark amber, was in very good shape with the transaxle having 749 hours on it. Anyway, replaced shaft, shaft seal, and filter and ... One last note, Hydro Gear indicates their filter works off of a vaccum created within the transaxle and not pressure which their filter is designed for whereas a cross-over car oil filter could possiblly collapse so I would recommend using OEM Hydro Gear filters on their transaxles since they don't have to be changed that often, partcularly if the mower is used for residential use.

Stick with OEM
This is a replacement for the factory original. There are a few aftermarket filters available that are a few dollars cheaper but I only change this filter once a year so I always try to use the original brand. This one filter protects two hydro pumps and two wheel motors so why try to save a couple of bucks when the wrong filter could cost a few thousands of dollars in damage.
