PRAISE FOR THE VIRGIL FLOWERS SERIES "Another brainy thriller from a prolific author, Deadline fulfills readers' expectations of Sandford's fiction: tense, smart and character-driven."-- Richmond Times-Dispatch "Sandford's best Flowers book to date. This book is the most fun I have had reading in a long time."--The Huffington Post "The biggest joys of this series are Flowers himself (his boss is Lucas Davenport from Sandford's Prey novels), the case of eccentric supporting characters, and the humorous dialogue."-- Shelf Awareness "Pure reading pleasure."-- Booklist "Sandford keeps one last surprise up his sleeve, and it's a doozy. Synopsis
Whenever you hear the sky rumble, that usually means a storm. In Virgil Flowers' case, make that two. The exceptional new thriller from the writer whose books are "pure reading pleasure" ( Booklist ). The first storm comes from, of all places, the Minnesota zoo. Two large, and very rare, Amur tigers have vanished from their cage, and authorities are worried sick that they've been stolen for their body parts. Traditional Chinese medicine prizes those parts for home remedies, and people will do extreme things to get what they need. Some of them are a great deal more extreme than others--as Virgil is about to find out. Then there's the homefront. Virgil's relationship with his girlfriend Frankie has been getting kind of serious, but when Frankie's sister Sparkle moves in for the summer, the situation gets a lot more complicated. For one thing, her research into migrant workers is about to bring her up against some very violent people who emphatically do not want to be researched. For another...she thinks Virgil's kind of cute. "You mess around with Sparkle," Frankie told Virgil, "you could get yourself stabbed." "She carries a knife?" "No, but I do." Forget a storm--this one's a tornado., Whenever you hear the sky rumble, that usually means a storm. In Virgil Flowers' case, make that two. Mistakenly ordered a paperback that I thought was a hardcover, not sellers fault; it was described properly on the listing. Seller still processed a refund the day I went to return the item and let me keep the item anyway. A+++ service. Book arrived quickly in great condition and for a great price. Thank you so much! Amazing seller!

seller was communicative about my shipment, media mail took a while and tracking wasn't updated frequently, but seller communicated to me very quickly on status. the item came new and wrapped as described, though the packaging in it was packed wasn't sturdy and falling apart when it got to me.

    Excellent detective thriller

Really good read, a page turner. Very original plot. John Sanford is one of the best authors around. I have to say, hate the language, but I'm sure I'm in the minority on that.

  • Escape Clause by John Sandford

My husband loves John Sandford books and Escape Clause did not disappoint. He loved it and will read it again. He highly recommends it and the seller. The twists and turns in the story kept him guessing right up to the end.

  • Virgil Flowers is worthy of a series!!

I would love to see the Virgil Flowers series developed into a series. I would be glued to every episode. I am picturing Virgil played by Timothy Olyphant. ❤️❤️❤️

  • really good read

Any Sandford novel is a really good read and well worth whatever it costs. Virgil Flowers is as compelling a protagonist as Sandford's other hero, Lucas Davenport---a good old boy in law enforcement.
