Finding my way.
Even in this age of superb Electronics I still prefer to have a mechanical, magnetic compass in my car. Finding one that is good quality is difficult. The Ritchie is the best I've ever seen. It floats beautifully is easy to adjust, very reliable and accurate

QUALITY INEXPENSIVE COMPASS, U.S.-MADE.
Bought two of these for our cars after rejecting a lot of imported junk. These are U.S.-made and while more expensive they appear to be built to last. They have two compensating adusters to correct for stray fields. In a car, the best place to mount is on the windshield, just below the mirror. The instructions are easy to follow and the compass has a warranty and is repairable. The only problem was the windshield slope needed a small wedge as the supplied bracket didn't have enough angle adjustment. Great buy! UPDATE: After using for a few weeks, the compass 'sagged'. Tightening the screws didn't work. Problem was the adhesive on two tiny washers on the bracket would slowly 'smear', allowing the compass to rotate. Removed the washers & adhesive with alcohol and replaced with #4 'star' ... Bought two of these for our cars after rejecting a lot of imported junk. Works well
I followed the instructions and mounted the compass on my dash. It took about 1/2 hour to regulate the compass. It is quite accurate. I could see it well so I did not hook up the light.
