      Great solid state alternative for old mechanical starter relays

      Works with the compressor on a very old Kenmore freezer, and probably many others. Although I fixed the old relay by filling down smooth its contacts which were quite pitted after over 40 years service, this solid state relay is much better and likely more reliable in the long run, maybe giving the freezer another 40 years service! It is also better for safety than the old one by mounting it directly on the compressor using plastic ties and silicone adhesive because it has a built in thermal cutoff switch which the old one did not have.
