Excellent thermometer for the smoker/grill
I decided to purchase this thermometer over other similar types for the recalibration/adjustment option. I installed it in the lid of my new Traeger Texas Elite 34. It required me to drill a slightly larger than 1/2" hole in the lid and is secured in place with an included flat washer and nut. Install was easy with proper tools, drill bits and a little mechanical ability. So far, I have been impressed with it's accuracy and quick response. The 3" sight window is a great size for easy visualization of proper temperatures while turning out bbq crowd favorites like ribs, brisket and pork shoulder etc. If longevity is as good as my initial impression of functionality, then I would highly recommend this 3" River Country adjustable thermometer. Purchased the RCT3 after great success with the RCT3W. Both thermometers are the same with the exception of the fitting size. The RCT3 has the 1/4 inch NPT fitting and the RCT3W has the 1/2 inch NPT fitting. Both units come with instructions to use the NPT fitting or to simply drill a hole of the specified size. This unit was successfully tested using boiling water and ice water and were found to be accurate for its intended purpose of fixed mounting. The RCT3 is an excellent value and my preferred thermometer for many of my 18-22.5 inch smokers and grills.
