The Definitive Act: Underated Gem
The last album from the recently disbanded Tsunami Bomb, this is their darkest and most accomplished effort. From start to finish, the tracks are fantastic and although there are a couple of songs that are not their best tracks, the album is genuinely brilliant. Agent M's (Emily Whitehurst) voice is perfect for the band, she can scream but also has a sweet gentle voice to perfectly suit The Definitive Act's more subtle moments. Jigsaw is a great standout track as it has all the elements that make Tsunami Bomb the great band they should have been. Dawn on a Funeral Day is probably the most recognisable song off the album and is very effective as the opening track. I Bought You has an amazing 'dirty' sound to it, by no stretch is it Tsunami Bomb's most technical effort but it works. 4 Robots ... Also worth a mention is Tetanus Shot which is a perfect punk pop song and had potential to be a tour favourite. I thought The Ultimate Escape was an album that could never be bettered but Tsunami Bomb proved me wrong with one of the best albums ever. Matt McKenzie's metal routes may have helped provide the darker sound but it is Agent M's stunning vocals which really make Tsunami Bomb a cut above the rest. The band will be sorely missed.
