Confusion to Enlightenment
I am participating in a Torah (1st 5 books of the Old Testament) study group & was looking for some resources with different viewpoints to study. ETZ HAYIM (Tree of Life) is in Hebrew and English with footnotes & commentary-obviously a Jewish viewpoint. Was confusing at first. The print is very small which I chose rather than a pricy edition. Once I got used to the format, it's been helpful. [The book goes from back to front & reads right to left. The footnotes and commentary are below the scripture & continue on the next page to the left.] The internet has many references available, but I still like to have paper copies for highlighting & writing notes in the margins. Reading for long periods online is tiring for me & I like being able to curl up in my recliner with book in ... A thrilling book, author unknown but the translations and commentary are superb. I bought it for the usual reasons, G-d commanded that I should study regularly and the hard cover edition is too bulky. A great read, chapter and verse and no surprise ending, Moses dies without making it to Israel, but then you should know that already. It contains all the material in the original, except for the essays. The Bible text, translations, and commentaries as well as the blessings, artwork, maps, glossary and other reference tools for the worshiper and student of Torah are included.A thrilling book, author unknown but the translations and commentary are superb.
