Good all round performance
The webcam arrived safely all the way from California to the UK and was very easy to install. My real comment has to be the technology, it is 2010 design and things have moved on but my TV is from that era too. The zoom could be better but it will do what I want. Newer webcams don't appear to be compatible with older smart TVs so I had not choice. Got it for a good price so no complaints.

It works, but not very well
Although set up was easy, there weren't any setup instructions at all. It turned out it was plug-and-play. The only instructions included told you how to plug it into your television, which had me doubting its use as a web cam. Once connected, it was detected by Windows 7. The performance was much lower than expected. Maybe it's the standard Windows drivers, maybe it's the hardware. Since it didn't come with software, I'll likely never know. Even on its maximium resolution, the imsge is grainy and slightly out of focus. And yes, the plastic protective film is off the product. In all honesty, the cameras on my last 2 cell phones (dating back 5 years) had better quality than this. I had almost returned it. Good if you dont have an xbox there already.
It does make it easy for others to see you on the big screen but its hard to see the fam from a far. You can zoom in to get better images but then it can get a little grainy. Overall I am please with it as long as I place the camera on top of the tv and not at the bottom because it will echo.

Old and overpriced
This plug-and-play camera is easy to use, but the picture quality is absolutely horrible and grainy. I did not realize at the time of order that this is a ten year old model. I cannot believe what passed for quality ten years ago. The mount is easy to use, which is about the only nice thing I can say about the camera.
