  • The Necronomicon: Not Just for Lovecraft Any More!

This is a beautiful, huge, coffee table book of the most disquieting and exotic art you are likely to see. You will recognize H.R. Giger's work when you see it, because he designed the techno-biological nightmare that became the monster in the "Alien" films. In the Necronomicon ("book of the dead,") Giger borrows a title from horror author H.P. Lovecraft. Contrary to popular belief, the Necronomicon does not really exist. It was invented by Lovecraft as a clever device for his 1930s horror stories. However, Giger's book is the closest thing to the "real" Necronomicon. In Lovecraft's stories, this book was supposed to drive its readers mad. Giger's paintings won't drive you to the asylum, but they will give you disturbing new images that will linger in your mind's eye. When I first ...

  • Awesome !

This is by far the best book on Giger. The large size format is the only way to truly appreciate Gigers work. It’s expensive, but you soon forget the price when you got lost in the amazing images. A must have if you’re a fan of the surreal and otherworldly things....!

  • Disturbing, exhilarating, complacency shattering.

Giger's work stretches the boundaries of human consciousness; he provides a psychotropic-drug free trip into the dark subconscious - Freud's 'polymorphous perversity', Jung's shadow. Those who are easily shocked and offended need not apply; those who hunger and thirst for an occasional journey outside the envelope be prepared for a nightmare fusion of human form, machine, and the occult (okay, the downright Satanic). Yet for all the strange and sinister, there is never a lack of the elegant line and curve, never a lack of beauty. The following link indexes a fantastic short essay on Giger from a psychology researcher. Enjoy - http://primal-page.com/grofgige.htm

  • Amazingly good HW Photos and huge size!

The book is an amazing reference book and collectors book or coffee book. The images are huge over 15 inches and high quality. This is a must have for any Giger fan or someone in the SPFX or graphic illustration industry.

  • GIGER NECRONOMICON

I think this book of art is the result of visually banishing dark images from the soul!!! ...An art of mental anguish from rejection of the opposite sex!
