    • A great way to study Rembrandt's etchings.

Dover has published an excellent series of inexpensive large-format art books with reproductions of works of important artists. This volume has good quality reproductions of all of Rembrandt's etchings. For those works that exist in multiple states, one state is reproduced and notes indicate how it differs from other states. The reproductions are all reproduced in the etching's original size. A few of the etchings are too large to fit in the book. One of them, "Christ before Pilate" (B77), is 17 x 22 inches. These oversize works are included in the book in reduced size, and also reproduced full size on separate loose sheets inserted into the book. If you're thinking of buying a used copy of this book, check whether the envelope of oversize sheets is included. Highly recommended. A ...

    • You won't regret buying this book if you like Rembrandt etchings.

I was given this book when I purchased a Rembrandt self portrait etching at a Naples, Florida dealer. It's beautifully catalogued and houses his entire lifetime oeuvre. All the black ink etchings are reproduced images on white paper stock are sharp and clear as if Rembrandt did them himself, they look so good, you could frame them instead of buying the actual etchings. All are reproduced in their actual sizes. Some are so large they were folded to fit within the limited dimensions of the book. Rembrandt mostly made small size etchings. It's a fairly large 12" x 9 1/4" book. If you like Rembrandt as much as me, you'll be amazed at the quality. This book is well worth the price.
