Great Book for boys...and girls, too!
This is a short but very well-written book about a whipping boy for a bratty prince. A whipping boy is a boy who has been brought in from the streets to be kept in the castle and be whipped as a stand-in for the prince. Things seem pretty dreadful, until the prince gets bored and runs away, bringing the whipping boy with him. They have quite an adventure meeting some outlaws, a bear named Petunia, and other interesting characters. This is a good book to read and discuss character traits, plots, and inventing new hooks in writing. Encourage Your Child to Read This Book!
This book has lots of details to help children visualize what is going on with the plot, encourages imagination, and invites young children to keep reading to discover what happens next! We purchased the book for my 8 year old son. The chapters are short & introduce new vocabulary words (which makes me happy & helps him in school). The story can be read to younger children, too. Overall, a wonderful addition to a young readers library.This book has lots of details to help children visualize what is going on with the plot, encourages imagination, and invites young children to keep reading to discover what happens next! The Whipping Boy Review
I loved this story. It's been one of my favorites since childhood. It teaches about the friendship between two boys from two very different worlds,and how they become close friends. A wonderful read!
