Season two of 24 saw the series in top form. The newly introduced characters become well-developed and intriguing, while old characters seamlessly take on new facets. Most importantly, the storyline is riveting, and the end of the season presents a sequence of episodes that was the best in the show's history. Season two begins with the two main protagonists in very different positions than in season one. David Palmer is now President, managing crises from an underground bunker reminiscent of the war room from the film Dr. Strangelove. He is surrounded by some old advisors from season one, as well as new associates including Lynne Kresge (Michelle Forbes) and men from the NSA with a different vision of what his administration should be doing. Meanwhile, Jack Bauer has left CTU and ... Season two of 24 saw the series in top form. The newly introduced characters become well-developed and intriguing, while old characters seamlessly take on new facets. Most importantly, the storyline is riveting, and the end of the season presents a sequence of episodes that was the best in the show's history. Of course, things change very quickly, and Jack soon finds himself back in action, confronting the threat of a nuclear warhead in the possession of terrorists in California. Meanwhile, in a sharp commentary on recent US foreign policy, Palmer is under intense pressure to respond to this terrorist threat by making war on three Middle Eastern countries with a tenuous connection to the terrorists. Kiefer Sutherland gives an excellent performance as Jack Bauer. In this season, the emotion-free ruthlessness of his character is understandable and well-acted, and Sutherland delivers a convincing performance, especially during his scenes with Syed Ali. Additionally, the scenes involving the audio recording MacGuffin are engrossing and intense. But it is Dennis Haysbert as David Palmer who really makes the season. The nail biting moments near the end of the season where righteousness itself seems to hang in the balance are the best moments in the show's history, and it is largely thanks to Haysbert's convincing portrayal of the character. Season two of 24 would have been easily the show's best, but there are some important factors that detract from it and put season one in competition. First, the Kim storyline goes nowhere and simply eats up time. Second, the Warner family exists too far outside the plot and seems to have been shoehorned in. Marie's character especially is unconvincing, and it's noteworthy that no member of the family is seen again after the first episode of season three. Finally, the scenes involving Jack and Mason are predictable, though the Mason storyline, along with Palmer's early woes, make for the best moments in the first half of the season. Regardless, excellent characterisation, thrilling scenes, and a strong overall storyline place this season among 24's finest.

Before that I had heard this and that about the show but had never gotten to watch any of it. Once season three began to air I started watching it on a regular basis. Now I own both season one and season two, and I am a very loyal fan, I have nothing bad to say about 24 The season two storyline had a very strong impact on the viewers as well as all of America. There is a dirty nuke in LA that has been brought into the country by a middle eastern terrorist group with the help of some american businessmen. The ultimate plot? Detonate the bomb on american soil. Why? So that america can start a war with the middle east. Some may ask "Why would american businessman want to start a war with the middle east?" There could be many reasons, but for the sake of those who have not seen season two, I will let you find out the reason on your own. 24 is a very intense and realistic show. There is no doubt that some may not be able to handle it. But for those who can I suggest that you get your hands on both season one and season two, I promise you will not regret it.

24 is an action packed mini movie that has terroistic threat that must be dealt with by the CTU(Counter Terrorism Unit) in one 24-hour period per season; each episode is one hour in that 24-hour period. Each season has been able to become more intrigueing and exciting than the one before! Do you like sitting on the edge of your seat? Do you have want to have to remind yourself to breathe? Do you, like most Americans, need a hero? Then you will love 24! My husband, son, and I could hardly wait for it to come out on DVD and watch every action packed episode. We became hard-core 24 Addicts after stumbling onto the show on Fox during season 4, aired in 2005. The characters will inspire you, enrage you, sadden you, and cause you to rejoice all in one episode! Watching one episode of 24 is like eating a Lay's potato chip: YOU CAN''T HAVE JUST ONE! Watching the show on DVD is the ultimate way to experience the ticking clock; the evolving and resolving of monumental terroist threat all in one 24 hour period! How amazing is that? And as if the excitement of each episode is not enough, we even created a game at each spot in the DVD made for the commercial break whereby the show fades to the clock ticking; after a few seconds the ticking clock is shown again with a period of lapsed time; meanwhile all three of us (and any friends also present) try to guess the seconds that will be shown on the clock when the show fadse back in. Of course, we all have a 1/60 chance of guessing it correctly; and the excitement and tension of the episode seems to carry into our little game making it tremendous fun! By the way, my husband is the reigning 24 clock champ with having guessed correctly 14 times in the watching of all four seasons! Try it with your family as you watch, it really is fun! The clock is ticking ... get your hands on the complete DVD set with special features and commentary! It's time you got excited about something, and this is it!

I don't know if Season Two of 24 is better than Season One, but one can certainly make the argument that it is – and that's quite a statement, since the first season of the show was spectacular. Unlike the first season, this day in the life of Jack Bauer ends with a cliffhanger – one that will leave you breathless and in anticipation for Season Three, which I presume, is exactly why Fox released Season Two on DVD a little less than two months before the premiere of the next season. In fact, 24 was on the verge of cancellation in its first year – but thanks to the release of Season One on DVD (where this reviewer first saw it), enough new fans were added for Season Two to make the show a successful hit. Now, no doubt, even more fans will be added to the rolls, and I wouldn't be surprised to see 24 finish its third year as one of the top ten series on TV. The good thing about watching this set (especially if you are watching it for the first time) is that you don't have to wait seven days to see the next hour in Jack's life. One gets a better look at just how well-planned out the series is by looking at the shows back-to-back. It's a remarkable and innovative program, and it's nice to see Fox give it the justice it deserves in this box set. THE DVD Video: Presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen, the transfer is simply stunning. There are no signs of dirt on the print or pixilation, and the flesh tones are nicely balanced. Some may notice that there is a slight "grainy" look to the picture, but that's the intended look of the show, the way it was originally presented, and the way it was intended to be seen. In other words, this is a real top-notch transfer by Fox. Audio: The audio is presented in 5.1 Dolby and sounds fantastic. Dialogue is crisp and properly balanced, and the soundtrack becomes very aggressive during action sequences, but without becoming so loud or overbearing
