    a MUST SEE!

ARRIVAL...is what great science-fiction is about. Intelligent, superbly acted, engaging....and devoid of the usual attacks and special effects explosions which characterize much of the genre today. ARRIVAL does however, require a bit of "gray matter" to fully appreciate....and for that reason alone, if your idea of entertainment is teen-age bathroom humor then ARRIVAL is most definitely NOT your cup of tea. Incredible soundtrack perfectly accentuates the depth and meaning of this film, as well as the comprehensive and truly informative "extras" that come with the Blu-Ray edition. Highly, highly recommended!!

    Meh

I bought this because of all the great reviews, and it's Rotten Tomatoes rating. I can't trust that site anymore. I went into this thinking it was going to blow my mind. It was slow moving and even once you figure out the "aha" ending it's more like, "ok". I'll watch it again though. Maybe get more out of it the second time.

  • NOT "jaw dropping" but okay

If you're looking for an ACTION PACKED fall-off-your-seat movie, don't waste your money. This is an interesting spin..... it makes you think.... I'm going to have to watch it a few more times to put the pieces together. Just my honest opinion...

  • Aliens arrive on earth. It could be the end of our world. There is love, and death, and some more love.

An alien race arrives on earth in 12 different places at one time, which forces the different countries of the earth to try to work together to determine the intentions of the visitors. There is a wonderful plot twist to this movie which would be one gigantic spoiler if it were discussed in a review! This is a thoughtful movie, and not a scary or gory thing. The main character is a linguist - she is a language specialist who tries to help the U.S. military communicate with the aliens of an alien ship that lands in Montana. The movie was so well done, I had to immediately watch it a second time. The music is haunting and perfect. The storyline will have you thinking about it for days. A thinking person's movie - there you go, and I didn't give the plot twist away at all.

  • Excellent SciFi with a Profound Story

If you are a deep thinker, you'll probably enjoy this movie very much. It's one of the best scifi movies. It deals with concepts of time and whether a person should choose to do a thing, knowing it will bring not only great joy but also terrible grief. And it portrays a hopeful future where humanity looks beyond its phobias and unites. The aliens were amazingly original as was their method of communication and technology. Yet, in spite of the vast difference between them and mankind, they bridge the gap with a breath-taking demonstration of sacrificial love. There have been very few scifi movies that stir the soul as profoundly as Arrival. Perhaps Enemy Mine from 1985 comes close. I highly recommend Arrival.

  • Not your typical Alien movie, AWESOME!

Unusual, thinking person's movie. Not about massive special effects, but it has some. Amy Adams is great! It's one of those movies that will change your life a little after watching it. So many movies are very forgettable, not this. The key thing is you have to want to think. If you want to just partly watch a show, you won't get it. Now, I have to go watch the movie AGAIN.

  • The Best of 2016

ARRIVAL was easily the best movie of the year and should have swept the Oscars. It is a once in a generation sci-fi flick on every level. Failure to nominate Amy Adamas for Best Actress was an unforgivable travesty. It is, however, a sophisticated film. Either focus and think carefully and clearly, or more delightfully, plan on watching it twice. ARRIVAL has a lot to share.

  • extras..

reading the reviews helps, but the extras contained explains the basis of the movie. which makes understanding and enjoying this movie w/out a hesitant step. the writer, producers, dp&director "where on the same page" which is definitely not easy on a unique, delicate paper thin flower like this, bravo 🤝🍻

  • Just watch it and relax with the pace

Don't look for a movie with typical aliens, explosions, car chases, horror, and gross stuff oozing, space ships blasting away--NOPE not here; if that's what you want all the time go elsewhere, this is in the vein of the old classic, Day The Earth Stood Still. Not that nonsense with Keanu Reeves but the much better original with Michael Rennie and Patricia Neal.
