Synopsis
Finite Element Analysis of Weld Thermal Cycles Using ANSYS aims at educating a young researcher on the transient analysis of welding thermal cycles using ANSYS. It essentially deals with the methods of calculation of the arc heat in a welded component when the analysis is simplified into either a cross sectional analysis or an in-plane analysis. The book covers five different cases involving different welding processes, component geometry, size of the element and dissimilar material properties. A detailed step by step calculation is presented followed by APDL program listing and output charts from ANSYS. Features: Provides useful background information on welding processes, thermal cycles and finite element method Presents calculation procedure for determining the arc heat input in a cross sectional analysis and an in-plane analysis Enables visualization of the arc heat in a FEM model for various positions of the arc Discusses analysis of advanced cases like dissimilar welding and circumferential welding Includes step by step procedure for running the analysis with typical input APDL program listing and output charts from ANSYS., Finite Element Analysis of Weld Thermal Cycles Using ANSYSaims at transient analysis of welding thermal cycles and helps to determine the most optimum procedure that minimizes the extent of rework using ANSYS. Apart from explaining the basic size of the element, welding speed, the distance moved by the arc, it deals with the methods of simplification of complex three-dimensional analysis into cross sectional analysis and in-plane analysis. Five different cases involving different welding processes, heat input, arc shape, size of the element, speed of welding is presented. The detailed step by step calculation is followed by APDL program listing in ANSYS. Features: Provides useful background information on welding processes, thermal cycles and FEM using ANSYS Includes step by step procedure for running the transient thermal analysis in welding - typical input and output using ANSYS Explores visualization of the position of the arc for various time steps and the corresponding arc heat values in FEM model Discusses analysis of advanced cases like dissimilar welding including running of two-dimensional analysis and three-dimensional analysis Includes sample input and output from ANSYS software for different cases

This is an outstanding seller to deal with. Fair prices that are more than reasonable in this economy. The product is in better condition than described, a true value for my money. Packaged and shipped well shows seller has concern for the products he sells to arrive in excellent condition. The seller is friendly and communicates timely with his customers. I highly recommend this seller and would do business again anytime. Thank you!

Great seller! Item is what I ordered; good communication; shipped promptly; good value. NOTE TO SELLER: packaging was NOT appropriate for item; it was a flimsy, plastic envelope, with no stiff material to prevent creases. The book came with two deep creases that involved the *entire* item: one is a 1" triangle lower left side (bound edge); the other is a 7" triangle on upper right side (open edge).
