About this product
Product Information
For ten years Camilla has lived a frugal existence in France with only her twin sons and a small coterie of other divorced emigres for company. It seems that romance and excitement has fled her life forever until she develops an internet friendship with a pirate who charms her into accepting an invitation to visit his idyllic island in the Caribbean. She finds that her pirate is real enough: he sails a sixty-foot ketch, has a loyal crew and makes his living from smuggling, racketeering and things that Camilla would rather not think about. Johnny Depp he certainly ain't ? he's fat, bald, chauvinistic and decidedly lacking in terms of personal presentation. But Camilla's pirate pampers her royally: lavishing exquisite food, expensive clothes, exotic jewellery and rendering some of the jolliest rogering that she?s ever experienced. The Pirate indulges the twins outrageously and they soon treat him as the father they have never known. As the vacation draws to a close, the boys are happy to decamp to an expensive boarding school - all paid from the Pirate's largesse ? while Camilla, enjoys the sort of attention she hasn't had in years. Gradually, though, denied both money of her own and her passport, often stranded aboard the Pirate's ship, Camilla comes to realise that her cosseted life has become a prison from which escape seems to impossible. But then she discovers where the Pirate keeps his gun? Samantha David's transgender tribute to The Taming of the Shrew is a veritable treasure chest of ribald and raucous humour. By shattering almost every convention of romantic comedy she nonetheless crafts an original and highly entertaining example of the genre. It?s brash, unashamedly non-P.C. and wildly funny.

The book is in "reasonable" condition! not vg condition as described- front cover permanent fold over on arrival, packed this way ? pages are yellowing. Seller may be best to place a description "proper" of actual book being sold on the listing with photos so buyers know what they are receiving for the price paid.
