About this product

Product Information

Players are invited to conquer the world in an afternoon, with the first version of Sid Meier's Civilization designed for consoles. Civilization may be the most archetypically "PC" game series in all of PC gaming, so significant adjustments were made in refitting it for Xbox 360, PS3, DS, and Wii. Developed from the ground up by Firaxis Games, Civilization Revolution aims to streamline the Civ experience without dumbing it down. Civ vets will find simpler choices among such granular-level gameplay elements as tech tree advances, tile production, and military units, but the global-level influences of technology, economy, and armed forces interact with the same complexity as they do in other versions of the game.

In Civilization Revolution, the player takes the role of an enduring, supremely powerful ruler, who leads a tribe of people from pre-historic beginnings through the ancient, medieval, industrial, and modern eras, to eventually become the most powerful nation on the planet (and perhaps even beyond). Each turn, players make decisions about which technologies to research, what city improvements to build, how many military units to train and support, and whether to go to war or seek peace with competing civilizations. Food, research, and money are generated each turn, according to the types of terrain in the civilization's territory and the allocation of labor and infrastructure. A civilization can expand its territory by establishing new cities in unclaimed areas, or by taking over cities belonging to other nations.

Maps are randomly generated for each game, and players can adjust various set-up and difficulty options. While interfaces and appearances vary, all versions of Civilization Revolution feature the same content and run on the same rule set. All versions support multiplayer games for up to four over an internet connection.

Very happy with the item, I'm ok with the price and description of item accurate. Very disappointed I had to contact seller to remind about shipping my item! Once I contacted seller it was processed and shipped after 4 days of being paid. I gave the seller 5 Star anyway. 👍

Nothing like it on consoles....any console.

Great play against AI but AWESOME play via multiplayer using modem. Must have 2 PS3s, 2 copies of game, and a WiFi modem to play two player in same house but it is SO worth it. Literally the best and most unique game on any console period! I own every system and more games than I can count and I recommend this game above all others. Never plays the same way twice. Each civilization has unique abilities. Great graphics. Awesome strategy game. No bad language! Strategy - turn based gameplay at its best. Games last a couple of hours. Be prepared to be amazed then be prepared to be heartbroken when you find out that this game won’t be returning to consoles on newer systems.

Fine game that pales in comparison to its PC counterparts

Civilization Revolution isn't a bad game - on the contrary, it's a good game. But that doesn't seem like enough in the world of Civ Meier's Civilization. The game, on it's own is fun to play, has decent variety in challenges and difficulty, and has gotten me more than my money's worth in entertainment time. The problems exist only when compared to other Civilization Games. Civilization has long been a PC franchise and in the interest of streamlining this for consoles much of the charm has been lost. Civilization Revolution has the following drawbacks when compared to the PC versions of Civilization: Much less robust diplomacy options. Far fewer playable civs. Shallower AI. It's also worth noting that players do LOVE the multiplayer in Civilization Revolution BUT the servers for this ...

  • FUN GAME! Not for fast paced gamers! Gr8 for old skool computer style gaming

Not the best controls since it mimics the computer franchise, but its fun and super cool they made this on ps3. Reminds me of age of empires 2 that was on ps2 but a little more user friendly. A++ If youre a fast paced gamer skip this, but if you wanna waste your days away playing a slow strategic chess like game then get it now and just go with it :p

  • Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution PS3

Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution for the PS3 isn't a must have for PS3 owners. It is a bit hard to get into if you're not a strategy game buff. The purpose of the game is to win in one of four ways: Domination, technology, economic, or cultural. Only one of these can be achieved per time you play and it is up to you which one you want to pursue. This is defintely not a long game (maybe 4 or 5 hours at the most PER PLAY and thats only if you extend the play) and you can even beat it in about 1 hour if you do it correctly. I personally enjoy long games so as to get my money's worth. I do have to say that you can replay this game many times and it does seem different every time if you choose to go after a different victory each time. There is a difficulty setting which you can ...

  • Great game for beginner strategy players, well worth the money.

The Game is an entertaining strategy game, that isn't overly difficult to the point of discouragement. I am not a huge strategy player, but have found enjoyment out of this game an have played it through a couple of times. With a variety of scenarios and a variety of difficulties, it has a good playability. The computer can be cheap sometimes, so watch out for that. A great starter strategy game for anyone looking to get into the genre, highly recommended.
