About this product

Product Information

Blaise Pascal, the remarkable seventeenth-century mathematician, physicist, and religious thinker, rigorously refutes the belief that to become a Christian you must first commit intellectual suicide. He wrote to communicate the Christian faith to the skeptical, to the indifferent, to the hostile. Many regard him as the greatest of French prose writers. After his conversion at the age of thirty-one, Pascal records how his mind blazed with the burning conviction of being overwhelmed with light. For many years he had examined God merely as a series of concepts. Now he stood before God's presence and the reality of God Himself, the same God who had appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It was this that now gave him joy, joy, joy, tears of joy. The Mind on Fire contains Pascals' Pensees, a systematic and uncompromising defense of Christian belief, along with selections from his Letters to a Provincial, his own description of his conversion, and a prayer for the proper use of pain in his life. Dr. James M. Houston, editor of the Classics of Faith and Devotion series, is a highly acclaimed scholar and pioneer in the field of evangelical spirituality. He came to North America from England in 1968 to lead Regent College in Vancouver, Canada, a worldwide center of spiritual formation.

Fantastic seller! My item took longer than normal to arrive but that's due to them sending me the wrong dvd. Not to worry though, I contacted them and they arranged for the correct dvd to be sent out. My item has now arrived and the dvd was in excellent condition (brand new as described) and it was very well packaged. I would also like to say that the value for money is excellent. I highly recommend this seller, thank you so much! The issue with the wrong dvd was quickly rectified .

Book arrived safely packaged in perfect order. Item as described, new. Thank you Rarewaves Outlet. Fascinating book, great addition to my collection. Great price. Would recommended this seller. No communication needed with seller, so don't know what to rate with regards to communication (please dont take lack of feedback on this matter as a negative). Thanks again.

This vinyl is really reasonably priced and I love that it is one of the more unusual colours. It arrived well packaged, undamaged and looks as described. It arrived late, due to Royal Mail's Festive rush, but was dispatched by the seller really quickly. When I contacted them to ask where it was, they replied really quickly with a helpful solution. Such good customer service, so strongly recommend. Really happy with my purchase.
