Epic fantasy, with magic, swordsman. The story follows a duo of treasure seekers, in search of the "Ultimate Power". Along the way they encounter competition, betrayal, and befriend unlikely allies to form a band of ruin explorers. Throughout this series there is character growth, redemption and sacrifice. The series is well illustrated and animated by hand, in some of the most beautiful, consistent art I have seen in a long time. This is especially impressive considering the series 1995 release. I watched this again, this time on DVD; after I had initially watched it on VHS years ago. The DVD version is ideal, although aside from superb sound and video, the DVD producers did not add any additional content. The subbed version is excellent, and it features some familiar voices. Jessica Calvello, Kikuko Inoue who voiced the protagonists in Slayers. Translation, timing, and localization are handled perfectly. If you like Anime, and find this on DVD, buy it.Read full review
I saw previews of this movie on a few other anime DVDs I own and it looked interesting. I like the story and all the magic and characters, the only thing I didn't like was ending. It left you wanting to see more, which is good for any movie that will have a sequel because it leaves you wanting more but as this was made 12 years ago i don't think a sequel is coming. It reminded me of a few video games I've played before. I'll probably watch this twice a year when i want to get in the mood for the game. I recommend this to anyone who might find some connection with it like i have with my guardian heroes video game.
