    Obviously, great "grab ya" title!

Had this book for years, and with divorce, lost it to my husband. My new neighbor was so sad that hers was lost in her house fire, so I was glad to replace it for the both of us at a great price. We'll be sharing it!

  • Gravies and taters and stews and pie, oh my!

The recipes are fantastic and filled with humor. There is also a section of great color photos of people and food. There's something for everyone in here, from Whiskey Sauce to Pun'kin pie, spoon bread to after-dinner coffee liqueur, Day-old Fried Fish to Shrimp Perlow. There's about every kind of Southern food in here, and these are simple, mostly quick recipes. Lard shows up a lot, but you can always make lower-fat substitutions. (I was surprised to find a fried egg sandwich in here; seems obvious, but the preparations were exactly as I use: spread two pieces of bread with mayonnaise (I use toasted whole grain bread myself), and then salt and pepper the bread, and then slip a fried egg in between the bread.) These recipes will make your mouth water, even if you never make them, but most ...

  • The title is a little racist but it came out when PC was not an issue.

Recipes in this book are designed to satisfy your tastebuds and not prolong your life. I'm sure though that the years you lived would be full of taste.

  • Not a joke

Definitely worth having in your cookbook collection. It also answers a lot of questions about southern cooking. The recipes are fairly quick and simple and good.

  • Easy as Pie

This is a great cook book.....and so simple.....and a book filled with good old honest recipies as well as being written by the "salt of the earth" people. Absolutly wonderful as well as mouth-watering ....I just ordered another one for a friend....as well as a cook book it is a sociological insite to parts of "The South"....I wish I could cook every recipe in this terrific cook book!
