.hack//Infection (Part 1), as the name suggests, is part of a four part game series about a guy who starts playing a popular online game with his friend only to be attacked and have that same friend end up in a coma. He then begins his journey searching for answers and a way to help is comatose friend. Essentially you're playing a game about someone playing a game. The story is quite interesting, especially if sci-fi/cyberpunk is your thing, although the only downside is that you'll be getting only the first quarter of the story here. Want the rest? Time to buy Parts 2, 3, and 4. The gameplay comes down to dungeon crawling with actionRPG style combat, going into town, buying items, then heading back to the dungeons. Every now and then you're forced to log out of the game and go to your deskop (remember, this is a game inside a game) to check the message boards for tips and new locations or check your email. This might seem annoying at first but interacting with your party members through email was actually quite enjoyable and fleshed them out, while the message board was very useful in that it provided essential information. Overall, I loved this game as well as the subsequent .hack games, and is a must buy for RPG fans who can get over the older looking graphics and want a great story and fun gameplay.Read full review
.Hack is A game that is inside of an online game. You get to go do stuff like check your mail and sometimes get to reply to some of the mail. You also have a bord that tells you stuff that has happend in the game. The game is one of the top 9 rpg. You get to play as a guy named Kite. The more you go in the game the more people you can get. You can only have two other people in your party. While you play you find out that people are going into a coma while playing in "the world" but is this happing becouse of a game? You seek to find out what or who is doing this. I have played all four games and have beaten them. And one of the stuff I didn't like was that it didn't have a real online mode! Whats the point of haveing an online game that doesn't have a real online mode? What I like was the fighting mode. It also has a lot of differt places to go to. But I enjoyed playing the game,a whole 98 hours worth I give it a 7 out of 10.Read full review
I absolutely love the .hack// franchise, both the original and the G.U. trilogy. Having this game, the roots of MMOJRPG Simulation is amazing when I first played it. In all the games and anime, Bandai should've kept this game alive for console gaming and other things, even though it has some mobile games. The Original games and anime even Sword Art Online ain't got anything close on this franchise. I really hope Bandai and CC Corp make more future installments.

It feels similar to playing an online game except not. I found this one pretty fun and a good introduction to the other 3 games making you want to keep playing them to get the story. You might also feel compelled to finish every little special feature. The dungeons can become a bit repetitive but I think that's pretty similar to an online game anyway. The animation is pretty good too considering this is a fairly old game now. Definitely give this game a try if you like convoluted plots, some repetition, and getting game goodies. ;D It's also got the great feature of being in either English or Japanese.
I bought .hack//infection several weeks ago after reading a story about the sequel in a magazine. This is a really good game. It successfully gives the feeling of an online game without ever having to log onto the internet. The characters are designed with a lot of detail. I have several complaints about this game though. One is that the graphics seemed rushed, the field maps are very grainy and flat. Another one of my complaints is the English voice acting. The voices are metiocre and tend to lean to the side of fake. Also, the mouths of the characters do not match the words. Playing this game with the optional Japanese audio might just be worth it. So overall, I would recommend this game if you're looking for an online RPG but don't want to actually go online or if you're looking for fun gameplay. But if you're looking for a cinematic game with gorgeous graphics and good english voicing than you may want to looks elsewhere.Read full review
I loved this game, LOVED it. I loved it for the deep, complex story line and the interesting concept of the game. You take on the role of a young man (high schooler) who has begun playing an online game called the world. A mysterious event in game places his friend into a coma, and the problem is spreading. You continue on into the game to uncover the truth, meeting and making alliances with other players while the game makes you feel like you are truly playing an online game while you check e-mails and message boards. That said the game mechanics, whie not terrible, ARE reptative, as are the enviornments and if you aren't the kind of person who is propelled by story, you will get bored quickly. I still highly recommend the game for anyone that loves RPGs
Finally got a chance to test out the game myself to make sure it was working alright and I’m happy to say that it is working! It’s in pretty good condition considering but I’m just glad it works. Cant wait to play through my childhood when I have the time.

Well I bought this game on a Friday and decided that was going to be my game for the weekend. Unfortunatly I beat it by Sun afternoon. The length the game is the main problem with this game. Some of better points being the great story and the pretty good fighting system. While the fighting system may seem overly simplistic to some people it does its job very well which is to get the player from point A to point B in the story. Make no mistake this game is all about the story. Finding items and upgrading equipment is really not neccesary. Some of you may wonder why I am giving this game such a high score. Mainly for the price of around $20-$30 or the whole series auction here on ebay for around $80-$90 you are getting way more than you paid for. For about a great 20 hours of gameplay and a fantastic story this is definatly worth picking up.Read full review
I went to bestbuy with 50 dollars in hand about 5 years ago. I wanted to buy a game, I wasn't sure what game, and I stared at them all for a moment or so. I finally came across this game. ".hack//INFECTION" the part that swayed me into buying it wasn't the gameplay or the lame cover art, it was the additional DVD anime disk that was included. Anyways, this game ceased to amaze me, it came up with an amazing idea, and turned that into a reality. It made it seem like the player was online while they really weren't and this was amazing. I had never played an online game although I knew what they were like and this is what this game really does well. The sounds and the acting and the graphics are of course all top notch, and the best part is even after you beat the game you can continue playing to get special weapons etc. in order to import them into the next game. I would highly recommend this game to anyone and everyone!Read full review
