Intriguing storytelling.
This is probably one of the best television series out of the BBC and I have always loved the books, it's a shame The Honorable Schoolboy was never completed by the BBC. John Le Carre was someone who captured the cold war espionage era without having to resort to Philby, Burgess, and MacLean. All the characters were played by known British actors of experience.

Well, the first lot, tinker etc, is totally incomprehensible - except maybe for affectionados[?] of this author. Alec Guinness holds up his end of the uninspiring script but is surrounded by less than average support - and no subtitles to help us along.... The second offering continues on with the aimless meanderings, but with subtitles this time ! Except for a couple of standout efforts, the support is again lacking. The whole yarn ends with a number of loose ends that deserve attention, disappointing. Maybe there is yet more of this stuff !! Really a waste of time and money, at least the expense is spread over four discs....
