About this product

Product Information

Control the destiny of your skater as you grab, grind, and check your way through Tony Hawk's Proving Ground. The ninth installation into Hawk's skate-centric series brings you to the streets of Baltimore and Washington, D.C., where the choices you make affect the overall training and path of your character. There are nine skill sets to control, and eight are completely new to the game. The skills you focus on determine if you are to become a "Hardcore Skater," a "Career Athlete," or a "Rigger." Each label brings with it a handful of special actions, such as checking, bowl grinds, and altering the existing landscape. "Nail that Trick" is back with an expanded set of moves that are designed to be more accessible than the original in-game feature found in Project 8. Now, you can also "Nail that Grab" and "Nail that Manual" as you explore each urban environment.

If you tire from single-player action, you can take your show on the online road and join friends for skate sessions in your own personal lounge. The lounge allows you to meet with other gamers in a personal setting for chatting and trading videos made offline in the editor included with the game. You can film your best moves and then splice a visual portfolio together using a variety of lens, camera, and soundtrack tools. These videos, along with successful runs and tricks, can help improve your overall Internet ranking and statistics. Success means learning from the best, and you take instruction from Tony Hawk, Ryan Sheckler, Arto Saari, Jereme Rogers, Daewon Song, and Jeff King as you advance through each challenge.

  • Awesome game, great value

Great game! Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 Review Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 strikes a perfect balance between new and old and renders the two previous entries in the series almost completely obsolete in the process. Making a great sequel to an already successful product is a tricky endeavor, especially when you're talking about a game series that is moving from one platform to another. It would be extremely easy for a developer to stick way too close to the previous title, using the new console's power to give the game a nice graphical overhaul and pumping up the difficulty so that hard-core fans have something new to play with. On the other hand, too many changes could potentially alienate the original game's fan base by getting away from what made the previous games in the series stick out. ...

  • Tony Hawk's 9th game is fun, difficult, and worth a shot.

I really enjoyed Tony Hawk's Proving Ground! As a casual/hardcore gamer for 15+ years, I'd say this game is one of my biggest challenges I've ever had. First time Tony Hawk players may have difficulty with the "Amateur" level, but it becomes brutal at the "Sick" level. This installment has all the same controls of the classic Tony Hawk Pro Skater series plus more controls and new tricks. The game physics are somewhat fantasy-based and fake, which allows for some impossible stunts. Comparing Proving Ground to EA Games' Skate series, this game isn't as realistic, which is what I personally like about it the most. Some parts can be extremely difficult, taking advantage of the off-the-wall, impossible-to-do-in-real-life physics. Though when I play Skate, I feel the physics are TOO realistic. ...

  • Tony Hawk Proving Grounds

This game is great and lives up to the Tony Hawk game play without all of the loading screens. Though there is no single player free skate the stor is nice. u can pick from three different story angles and do them. The new nail the grab and nail the manual features in the game are great jus need to be available more in the begining of the game. There also is a guitar hero 3 demo in this game with 6 songs and multiplayer capibilities. So this game is good though it has its flaws its still good plus its fun to skate from baltimore to DC without thoes boaring loading screens!!!

  • Meh, Not For Me

Presentation- The once-fresh overall style has gotten a little old. The story elements are presented better now that they're broken out, but none of them are all that interesting. Graphics- Character models are well defined, but can look a little freaky at times. The city is quite solid, but nothing will wow you. Sound- The soundtrack is good, though it seems to have strayed from its hardcore skating roots a fair bit and doesn't seem as natural. Gameplay- The controls are tight and the basics can still be fun, but we've done all of this before. Many times. Lasting Appeal- There are plenty of things to do, and getting all of the Sick goals will require plenty of practice. Online extends the length, but it's not much different than past offerings. Overall- I wouldn't even bother with ...
