Lionel 2055 Hudson Locomotive and 2671W 12 Wheel Whistle Tender
I've always liked these Lionel Postwar Hudson Steamers. This 2055 as well as it's sister Hudsons made in the fifties is very well thought out. It is semi-scale in size, so it looks right on my modest sized layout. It has puffing smoke synchronized to wheel rotation. It features a 3 way E-unit for, in my opinion, more flexible control, and it features Lionel's Magnetraction which provides great pulling power and stability. I can run this engine full throttle around my layout's tight curves without flying off the track. On top of all this, I restore these Locomotives for resale, and I find them one of the easiest to work on. They are quite popular and as such all it's parts are readily available from a number of parts suppliers. I like to upgrade these engines with a Liquid smoke kit ... So, it runs reliably, it fits my layout needs, and is easy to repair. If routinely cleaned and oiled, these trains run like a well made kitchen appliance, and run for years. No touchy circuit boards to fry. No backup batteries to replace. The 2671 Whistle Tender which is included in this auction has the more desirable 6 wheel die cast trucks. It has a remotely operated rear coupler, and of course, it whistles. The only maintenance is usually replacing the wiring to the pickup rollers, which is sometimes dried out and losing it's insulation, and a periotic application of a drop or two of light oil on the whistle motor shaft, and on the axles to keep the wheels rolling freely. For a 65 plus year old toy, this Hudson/Tender combo can't be beat.

I'm Not playing with trains. I'm Building a railroad.
After a thorough cleaning and lubrication I put it on the track and it ran 💪. The coal tender has some issues with the shell but also functions good after cleaning and lubrication .
