Most relevant reviews

  • Best book on war history

I normally don't read books on war or even write reviews like this. However, this book changed all that. I was reading an article on ESPN (of all places) which described this book as a must-read. After reading 'Guns of August', i must agree with that assessment. The book is written in a compelling way which really paints a picture of the first month of World War One. More impressive is the descriptions of the various Generals from both sides of the war and how their egos played a massive role in how the war progressed and ultimately the outcome of the war. If you only read one book about war, make sure it is this one.
