    The Dark is Rising is a good book in a five book series and I enjoyed it enough to seek out a DVD. I am very much into a visual experience and if the visual rendition follows the book, that is fantastic. For bookworms the film will disappoint. The changes made to the story to allow for a rendition of some of the themes detract from the quality of the original story. This is probably why the entire fabulous book series, as happened with Lord of the Rings, Superman, Star Wars and StarTrek did not as yet develop. Look, the location was altered, the plot was Americanised, it was after-all an English story set in England, Oh, that's enough. STILL, it is an exciting film and if you have not read the books and just want a very different theme, buy the DVD, sit down and enjoy. The ...
