Sony & Android Auto Need work....
The headunit is great however connecting your phone for android auto can be problematic, the headunit cable it far to long and combined with your phones connection cable it sometimes looses connection at the most important times when u need your GPS!! Also my Oppo R17 android phone doesnt just connect, i have to enable developer options and change the usb mode to MTP every time i connect or turn the head unit on/off this surely can be fixed in a firmware update or a patch on android OS on the phone.The headunit is great however connecting your phone for android auto can be problematic, the headunit cable it far to long and combined with your phones connection cable it sometimes looses connection at the most important times when u need your GPS!! great unit for the price. If you are after a unit with capacitive screen and one that does both AA and car play u cant go past this one.
great unit, very good quality capacitive touch screen. Android auto works good on my S8+ but have realised that it is very specific to what cables work and what don't. Strangely the genuine cable that came with the phone doesn't work with AA dropping out all the time. Another cable i have which is i think AUKEY brand works without any problems. i have also tried with apple car play and that works fine no problem but i prefer AA. It has given my old car speakers a new lease of life with the speakers sounding much better than the original OEM headunit from Toyota. i havent used the second USB port for connecting USB drive so cannot comment on that. Google maps and Waze both work great with the unit in AA.great unit, very good quality capacitive touch screen. Good unit for cars made in 2017 or before - i.e. old technologies
If you are thinking of buying this unit, it is not bad if your car was made 4 or more years ago. For newer cars, you will feel the technology and connectivity of this unit are old / outdated. Do some research and look for a reverse camera that is not fisheye view only and make sure it can give you a bright view. This unit doesn't provide control over the reverse camera views / angles / brightness / digital zoom. Everything else is fine. Sound quality is good / great, but not excellent. If you are thinking of buying this unit, it is not bad if your car was made 4 or more years ago. For newer cars, you will feel the technology and connectivity of this unit are old / outdated. Great Android Auto Head Unit
Bought this unit to fit into a 2011 Outlander. Installed a reverse camera with it. Had no trouble aligning the reverse camera guide lines. Reverse camera is comparable to a new model factory fitted camera. The steering wheel remkte control buttons from the car work fine with this unit, had no problems with wiring or setting up. The microphone works well no problems making phone calls or giving voice commands via Andriod Auto. The sound quality far exceeds the original Mitsubishi unit, a big difference. The only down side i see to this unit is that the dimensions of the face of the unit are smaller than double din so when coupled with an Aeropro Facia panel there is a lip all the way around the screen (The screen has a lip behind it this is double din).
