Academy Pacific B-17 E 1/72
The kits molds have been around since the 90s it comes in two versions one flown by the US Army in the pacific in WW2 an the other flown by Japan that was also used in the pacific.the kit has a diahedral issue with its wings an seems to be also in academy B-17C,D,E,F,G versions academy puts out were the wings are canted up instead of level with the fusalage also the kits gun ports on its left side have to be cut out because they our not molded open not sure why academy did this with the E -version but be very careful because the waist gun opening requires allot of careful cutting an if you cut it to short the doors opening sides will not look right ! The bomb bay doors dont fit to well either so the only real way is to have them opened not closed. I would also bying a masking set for the ... Early B17E can be built with minor changes.
Very good,well priced kit.Does not contain correct lower turret for early B17E, but should be suitable for conversion.Note that most of the kit subjects would have had the early turret.
