I bought this game because I was looking to explore other first person shooter games other than Call of Duty games, and because this game seemed different than others available. I've played through some of the game so far, and have to say that the game has lived up to my expectations so far: In the near future (2025 ish) you are American rebels fighting against unified Korean forces occupying the US. As such, your weapons have limited ammo, so you are forced to conserve it, and the weapons are pretty much whatever you can find, and have many different attachments which makes for interesting gameplay. Compared to other games in this genre ie: Call of Duty Black Ops, Battlefield 2, etc., here's my personal opinion: 1. At 720p, this game could look much better. As for the environments, your paths are a bit too pre-determined for my taste, but still play pretty well. 2. The guns are pretty cool, with a good mix of more "traditional" weapons like the SCAR or M16, mixed with invented future weapons you come across by taking enemy weapons. 3. As far as character development goes, it is pretty good, and on par with other games in this genre, if not a little better. 4. The controls I think are very intuitive, and have many similarities to Call of Duty controls, which leads to a fast grasp of controls. 5. As far as online play, I haven't tried it yet, but I look forward to very soon! All things considered, this a good first person shooter with a slightly different concept, good weapons, good characters, and good gameplay. I would really recommend this game to those looking for a change from Call of Duty, or other major franchise games.Read full review
Homefront is a First-Person Shooter based in 2027 set in a Korean occupied United States. The game shows the great US of A under a Nazi-like oppression. You play as a former marine helicopter pilot who is recruited by the Resistance, a group of rag-tag fighters trying to free America, to fight the Korean oppresors. The games plot has an interesting premise, but fails to execute on more detailed events. As far as gameplay goes, Homefront feels like a Call of Duty clone. It plays the same way and was obviously heavily influenced by the ground-breaking series. However, Homefront misses the mark in a lot of places where Call of Duty hits it. Certain things in missions, such as having to wait for all of your teamates to catch up to advance. This would normally not be bad, but it takes quite awhile for your teamates to catch up. The game does a good job of making you feel like an underdog however, giving you limited ammo and body armor. Also, the opportunity to talk to civilians and other soldiers is very unique and adds a great twist on the game. The game looks okay, however you will not be walking away awed by the presentation. Ultimately, Homefront lives or dies by whether or not you connect with the citizens of occupied America, which I did not. I was scared by the initial thought of America being invaded but the horrors homefront presented never really hit me hard. Now before you call me a heartless, cold person, this is coming from someone who had difficulty playing the evil version on inFAMOUS because I felt too bad about the choices I was making. The voice acting is okay, however the characters are only alright, and not terrific. The multiplayer is your average shooter selection, level up, get guns, level up again. Once again, heavily influenced by Call of Duty. For me, Homefront never hit home. The presentation was just okay, and, in my mind, the only truly original things the game has is its general story and the ability to talk to other characters to learn their backstory. Otherwise, the gameplay was lacking, and the game seemed to simply copy a lot of different games and throw them all together. For example, the gameplay plays like Call of Duty, and one character is very similar to Haggard in Bad Company, however not as funny or intriguing. This copying would have been somewhat okay, it is just Homefront never hits it on the nail. In my opinion Homefront is a pass for $59.99, but if you can get it for $29.99 it is a good pickup just for its story.Read full review

But overall pretty okay shooter, THQ should've polished it a little more before releasing, hopefully the Sequel improves this potential GOOD franchise.
For the Playstation 3; a great shooter!.... Play the PlayStation 5; then back to this game!
