I started using the predecessor in a rack mount version a few years back and with any other effect pedal, a little goes a long way. I started selling them in my day job at a local pro shop and found them quite popular, but over used to the extent of being tacky. My last unit developed an issue with the guitar volume knob and I had it deactivated during repair since it was cheaper and I didn't use it anyway. I ended up selling it on ebay and found myself missing the unit during live single act shows. I bought another one in mint condition and now have my extra vocal parts that belong on songs from artists like the Everly Brothers to the Eagles. I usually just use a 3rd above to keep it simple and run the dry vocal at 12 o' clock with the harmony at 11: o'clock. I love the onboard FX like compression, delays and reverb and my Bose L1 compact has zero FX, thus making this a perfect multi FX unit with harmony that sounds believable if used in moderation.Read full review

I already own one of these units, have done for 3 years and simply wanted a spare as they are an invaluable tool for any guitar / vocalist either solo or band. Buying on ebay and sourcing from the USA lowers the cost to less than half the price of a local unit & being 12 volt (A/C adaptor)there are no power issues. This particular DigiTech Live 4 works well for me - the newer models have changed design from on/off pedal to a switch. I personally prefer the pedal and that was a consideration in buying this older unit. This 'Live 4' was in excellent condition, hardly used and was a 'Buy Now' item. Yes i would certainly purchase the same again, but i have two units now so, i don't think i will need to.
I can say.... that you guys are amazing. This vocalist effect is so easy to use and it sounds just like I have a harmony group behind me.I have been playing guitar and singing for over 35 years and I have never used such an easier pedal with such great results. Digitech is right here in Utah and I still remember your first pedals which i was turned on to, when I work at the Music Factory on 3900 so. and Redwood road.I still have one of your first pedals. I have always used digitech and and still have one of the first RP5 guitar effects and still use it for my main effects. Thanks for letting me play your pedals,I am one of your biggest fans. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, Eddie
Excellent Product. Very Easy to Use. Best sounding Harmonies I have heard. I have use product playing out for over 9 years. I just had to replace the power suppy once. Since they have been Discontinued I have recently purchased 3 Backups.

This is one of the best techy investments I have made. The harmonies are a little unrealistic (being in key and in tune :) There is alot that you can do to enhance live performances. I bought it primarily for recording and ther is an actual design flaw for that purpose. I would like there to be an output that sends the harmony signal independent of the lead for remixing and postproduction work. It would work really well if a lead vocal could be recorded then patched through to try different harmonies and effects via effects loop. Other than that it is fantastic. I look forward to playing around with it much more. The product was a fantastic value that arrived at my door quickly and in perfect condition. Will buy from again!!
I have four of these vocal harmonizers from Digitech. I prefer the earlier models like the Vocalist Live 4 because of the silent switching and large footswitch pedal. The newer models use conventional on/off switches (like other foot pedal effects) which make a distinct "click' when depressed. These units are built to last, except for the plastic knobs. They can be broken off. And finding replacement pots is very difficult since Digitech doesn't carry them.

Bought this sold it to a friend two days later; ordered a Live Pro for midi and a new Live5; sold two Live 4's to my friends for my cost of course and they use them in their church services and what a great sound! The Pro Live and the Live4 and Live5 are excellent. More sounds than I use but I would never be without one. Most fun playing than I've ever had. Spend hours playing and singing. Got all of them on Ebay at a fraction of the cost.
Although older technology, I needed a vocal processor to help fill in with vocals for a 60's cover band with 4 members, of which only 2 sing. I had the Vocalist Live 2 and it was very dependable but the Vocalist 4 gives me more preset vocal styles. The set up is instantaneous and very intuitive. It takes little time to learn the layout for setting up patches as Digitech has always been easy to use.
I already have the Vocalist 2 and 3 that I use randomly in the studio, but the Live 4 gives you so much more in the effects section, and the presets. I'm a big fan of the DigiTech equipment, and the Vocalist Live 4 is no exception to the quality you would expect from a high end company.

the options on this pedal are practically limitless -- way more than i'll ever use -- but it works great right out of the box.
