I’ve had the Teenage Engineering PO-33 for a while now. This was the first sampler I ever really got creative with and it really opened my eyes to the world of sampling. First off it’s just way fun. I sometimes find myself just reaching for it and banging out a little riff on the device because the 16 key buttons tuned to a scale are so fun to play. I find the real fun with this as a sampler however is in conjunction with a phone and a music streaming service. I’m an iPhone user and I have an Apple Music subscription. I have a pretty thorough music library and with the lightning to 1/8” headphone adapter I connect my phone to the PO-33, select a random track on shuffle, advance to the middle somewhere, and hit record. So far I have gotten something useable EVERY time with the assistance of a little truncating from within the PO-33. This is my creative take on the age old art of crate digging now with a world of streaming music at my fingertips. The variable high-pass/low-pass filter is very usable and effective for dissecting samples before recording and processing further in a DAW. The sampling on this thing is truly so fun & immediate and is so much quicker than sampling into a DAW with an audio interface. Even though you have to eventually record the PO-33 in, it’s way more fun pitch shifting and filtering on this than using a mouse & a computer for the entire process. I haven’t synced this to any other gear for DAWless jams but I’ve seen videos of it on YouTube and that looks rewarding too.Read full review

I own the big brother OP 1 also. If you are contemplating buying an OP 1 try the PO 33, if things are tight budget wise. The case is awesome, Awesome, AWESOME!!! Makes it look like a mini Akai MPC

Cool little product. A little pricey but good sampler to play with. I recommend to those who like sampling and making music. If you use it regularly then it is worth the investment. If not, then it might be an expensive little toy to play with.

Teenager Engineering is light years ahead of other companies due to thier innovative technology and friendly staff. I would definitely recommend doing business with them.

It's tiny, feels really solid, and *really* easy to learn to use. Knobs can feel a bit fiddly when adjusting, but I'm putting that down to 'charm.' Holds 40 seconds of samples. Allows you to create save files(!) Perfect for putting quick, very-workable lo-fi beats together.

This sampler is excellent for the professional producer or even the novice who wants to get their feet wet in the world of sampling. Its features are limited by today’s standards, but this is something which brings one’s creativity to the forefront. For the price and portability it should be a no brainer.

I mostly found sampling kind of a pain in the neck and didn't have much patience for it. But this little item is pretty easy to do some basic sampling and, with the built-in effects and the sequencer, you can get some compelling sounds and beats pretty easily. It doesn't really trim with precision, but it's definitely good enough and I'm having fun with it.

One of the buttons don’t work out of box. Makes playing it a lot harder. Just buy a brand new one.
