Had every brand of camera on the market. In fact I own 4 Canon cameras at this time. The G12 is almost perfection. So easy to use for a full function camera. Canon controls are laid out in such a logical easy to learn format. BIG battery for long running time. Nice articulated screen too. WORTH EVERY PENNY

I was looking for a simple. compact camera that would give me good image quality. I wanted it for discreet street shooting. But the camera is so complex and offers so many options that I have a hard time using it. If this were my only camera or my principal one, I would put in the time to learn it thoroughly. But as it is there are too many trips and traps that I fall into. The articulated screen is a great feature, but I can't exploit it until I learn the camera better. I owned a compact Canon before, so I am familiar with the Canon interface for its Powershots, but the G12 is a whole new game. I don't get great image quality with it; but if I knew the camera better, I might. In sum: the camera has many features you don't expect in such a compact and inexpensive unit, but you've got to put in a lot of time and thought to access all its capacities. Read full review

I've gone through 2 of these cameras since it came out in 2010 and it's still a joy to use. In fact I have 2 in case the one I am currently using dies. I find it that fun to use and I have 2 other cameras. I would probably still have the first one if I hadn't dropped it when changing the battery and gotten sand all inside of it. It has a fully-articulated screen and a viewfinder. Numerous picture modes and takes WONDERFUL pictures. I admit that even though you can use aperture priority, raw files and such call me lazy but I just use auto and stick to the jpgs. I know that cameras that have come out more megapixels but this one still gives them a run for their money. This may not be geared towards social media influencers with millions of followers or content creators with a million dollar budget. But if you're interested in taking extremely high quality family or vacation pics that you can share online or print out you should take a close look at this camera. It may not turn heads but the images it produces may. Unlike iPhone photos they're natural looking. I find them more to my liking than most any produced by a smartphone. And that fully-articulated screen AAA plus.Read full review

My all-time favorite camera for candid party shots. Versatile (swing out monitor) makes it easy to handle, with exposure setting dials on top for quick and simple shooting adjustments. The only design flaw is the lens cover that closes too close to the lens. Any bit of sand or dirt that gets on the lens when the camera shuts down can & too often does create a permanent scratch on the lens. I've had two previous G12s ruined this way. But as far as 10 meg point & shoot cameras go, this one is very tough to beat.

I bought this camera mainly for the one feature that ended up missing on it, a wireless remote. I had a Pentax with an IR wireless remote that finally died, so I did research on the internet for a replacement. This camera consistently received high marks and in the technical features it indicated the camera had a wireless system. Unfortunately, it doesn't. Other than that, no complaints. The picture quality is superb. The flash does a great job in low level light. I took photos in Wind cave and Jewel cave and the flash did a great job of capturing details. It has a video option which does a nice job, too. It has facial recognition software and so many options this should be considered more of an SLR than a typical point and shoot camera. On the downside it doesn't have a wireless remote, I had to spend extra to buy a wireless system that connects via the camera's hotshoe. Also, the camera is larger and heavier than a point and shoot camera so it will not fit in your pocket. The upside of that is that it is very sturdy. I had the camera on a tripod, a blast of wind came along and made it fall onto some rocks, other than a couple scratches it works fine. I love this camera and would recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to mess with an SLR but wants some of the higher end features of an SLR so you can do more with your shots. Just don't expect it to have a built in wireless feature.Read full review
The quality of the pictures are way better and more clear than I ever imagined. Especially for being over 10 years old. Super well taken care of!! I got it for my partners birthday and he loves it.

Added this camera to my large digital and film format collection. Love to stick this in my pocket or car and just head out to the landscape. Very happy with its versatility and handing. Many features without carrying a ton of lenses with you and works well with my older and arthritic hand too!

Lots of dials instead of menu after menu on an LCD screen for quick settings. Image quality is great for such a small sensor.

I bought this for my daughter, because my son has one and he loves it. Very easy to take either high or low angle shots, and the image quality is excellent. It is nice and compact, but it has a good heft to it. this isn't a cheap plastic camera. You can do a lot with it, or you can just put it on auto and use it as a point and shoot..
