I brought five pairs thinking ahead, and only 1 DAC was dodgy. It worked but was noisy unless heated up to 300 degrees, consistent with a manufacturing defect, not dubious seller behaviour. Mark this supplier as someone you should give a chance to supply genuine retro hardware components.
