Beneath the tragedy lies a truly beautiful story of unconditional love
I have just finished reading Holding The Man again...the 2nd time in 2 months. Apart from the powerful story, what makes this book work is Tim's ability to write authentic dialogue that propels you from one scene to the next. The prose is so simple, almost sparse, yet it packs an emotional wallop. I love Tims honesty in telling his & Johns story, so open & direct to the point that I could see it all clearly my mind...no detail too shocking or too personal. Beautiful, heartbreaking
This book broke my heart in (at least) a million pieces. Honest, raw, brilliant. A book about love. Real love with all its ups and downs, doubts, regrets etc. It amazed me that I could feel so much grief for people I didn't know in real life, that I was so affected by this story. A book that made me laugh and cry. A must read for anybody. Not only gay people, everybody. Because it is a story about love (and loss). A story that shouts "love is love!" I thank Tim for this gift.
